My first traditional slipjoint...

Enjoy your yellow CV Case Peanut gators52 and I agree - it will serve you well. Jeff ( not the Jeff Black Mamba, but, Jeff, the AZranchman) would be extremely excited of your choice! Thank you for letting us know your choice.:)

Jeff ain't the only one!

Maybe another member of The Cult in the making.:D

You have chosen wisely. Can't ever go wrong with the yella peanut. Great knife, small package.

I'm glad the OP found he knife he liked, coming here might be a bit confusing for some newcomers as we all have many great ideas and suggestions...well,usually:D:D

I'd just like to suggest that if the CASE cv knife appeals and you want to take up the whittling hobby later on, then a Böker Germany Whittler in carbon is an excellent compact 3 blade knife- great in the hand and not cumbersome in the pocket, nor is it expensive. The there's Queen's desirable No.48 pattern in bone or wood, another fine compact Whittler/general pocket-knife. The D2 will be hard to sharpen without diamonds though.

About the CASE/Buck differences, like most people I'm glad they are different. CASE has the looks, range and aura where Buck sports flinty durability and a no nonsense aproach. Their sawn delrin has got to be the ultimate in tough grippy stuff. Another point that anybody reading this thread who wants a Traditional knife for landscaping, gardening work and suchlike is that stainless is the better choice. Fertilizers, lime (one of the worst...) and other chemicals (even grand old dung!) contain a host of corrosives and other steel enemies, working fast under pressure might not allow cleaning very thoroughly, hence stainless is more suitable. Buck knives are usually all stainless construction including liners and this is a plus point too as brass can go very weird near chemicals.

All the best, Will
