My first wrap...how did I do?

Looks good, I like the all black! That reminds me I need to redo mine, all I had was tan paracord when I got mine.

No...why?

Some people do depending on the style of wrap.

When people make lanyards, some of them require you to gut the internal cords....I'm thinking the long box-rectangle looking ones. Other types you can leave the guts in.

another "pointer" for you... once you get it wrapped the way you want to keep it, soak the paracord in scalding hot water and set it aside to dry for the night. as the cord dries it will actually tighten more and harden up some as well which gives it a more secure feel.

not my original idea, i read the suggestion on this forum a little while back and it works well.

Any other experiences with this? Downsides?

wow- interesting suggestion with the hot water, I am going to try that tonight and report on my success (or lack thereof)

the only prob I see with the water "trick" is when you unwrap it sometime down the road you are more than likely going to find rusty spots under the wrap

not likely, the handle is completely coated so unless you've used it extensively prior to wrapping there shouldn't be any rust issues.

Great wrap. Nice and Clean!

So pardon my ignorance but the second style is called the "strider
wrap what was the first one called that C.M.L. did?

Looks like crap! You didnt even do it properly by leaving the knife out of the sheath, cutting yourself and leaving blood on the paracord...

Looks good to go. That wrap will last a week or two before you try nother,,, and another and....well you see where this will lead

what he said.
hehe

no but seriously, the cords are removed to make the paracord flat, basically i guess to make it easier to wrap aroundthe handles. :D

The paracord is still very solid in place and there seems to be nothing wrong with it. That was actually my first wrap that i used duct tape and didn't mutilate my hand. For the end i used a snake knot. Check it out on youtube.

Anyone do anything similar to this (apologies if the pic is dark, cell phone in a dark office) to lash a firestriker to a sheath for safe keeping?

I tried lashing it on the side, but didn't like the bulk it created (pocket EDC). Also, does anyone have any slim-profile knots they'd recommend instead of the plastic clasp.

Thanks
