My future cabin/home site

Make sure you enjoy every last minute, for you are one of the lucky ones and have a responsibility to enjoy it enough for the rest of us :)

Thanks all! I'll keep you posted on my progress.
I have given my floor plan I drew up to an archetect, but he is moving slow. I'm doing it in two phases, "phase 1" will be the garage/work shop with a laundry room and bathroom, so that travel trailer living will be a little easier! plans, permit, power drop and service, water piped over from the well, septic tank/leach field and perk test and build garage.
I have a good job here in Vegas and with a fairly inexpensive rental (As compared to my old mortgage) I can pay off the expenses of phase 1 fairly quickly, I hope, then start the house.
I have been in construction my whole life so I should be able to do quite a bit myself to cut cost's. I had planned to have equity to work with from the house sale but the economy and poor housing market her in Vegas killed that plan! As they say if there is a will there is a way!
I say two Busse GTG party's one when the shop is built and the other when the house is!

Looks awesome! I love it-any place I can catch trout in the back yard is paradise in my book:)

It looks like a beautiful spot and it sounds like you have it all there in the way of wildlife . Congrats on doing what most only dream of . Enjoy every moment of it . :very_drunk: Cheers !

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

Soulrack223, I'm 53, so I have a few years to go. eventually I'll work in Utah but I'm sure I would take a pretty good hit in pay.
I'm shooting for 4 more years in Vegas, then hope to be able to work the land and turn out work I love doing in the shop. That would be my idea of retirement!

I got divorced two years ago after 27 years. I have wanted to do this for along time and it's time to get after it! I just don't want any long term debt, so if it means a while longer in Vegas, I'm good with that, the property is only 2.5 hours away!

You won't regret chasing after your dream.
It is wonderful to live where you have always wanted to... and one heck of a fun learning experience to boot.
Congratulations!

That's great! Sounds like a good plan.

Salvo, Congrats Brother and that looks like a good spread!!! I always like country like that...Peaceful:cool:

Congrats, looks like real potential!

And yes, keep us posted (i enjoy seeing the progress on this kind of thing). We built on our little 2.5 acres in the desert, and it's been 1) challenging; 2) tiring; and 3) worth every drop of blood, sweat, and beers we put into it!

Nice looking place. What is the coyote population like around there? If they bother your cattle I'd love to come up a few weekends this fall and try to thin them out for you. I live in Henderson.

Mulder I hope you do, I'll have plenty of .348WCF loaded up and the SHBA near by!

Hi Andrew S, yes there are Coyotes, I hunt them too... I must admit I'm not the best at it, they seem to teach me a new lesson at every stand! Your more than welcome to go hunting with me? It's hard to find a hunting partner here in Vegas. My Dad likes to come along now and then though and that's great when he does, I fish and hunt with him whenever I can!

I am no expert either. Haven't even bagged my first dog yet. I've had a few stands where I called one in but I've only gotten a shot off on one so far and it was a runner after I was busted so I missed.

I'd love to tag along for a weekend some time this fall.

Sounds good, we'll make it happen! Gotta get you your first yote.
I'm sitting under that big cottonwood right now, stars are amazing and the Coors light is cold.
