My Hiking Setup

Why the extra steel cup? Since you already have something to boild water in, why not at least switch to plastic? Durability?

Nice knife, I've been looking at one of those. Any comments on the handle or ridges on the spine? Those bits seem to get the most criticism.

I usually hike with my girlfriend so the extra cup is just a nice thing to have :)
it doesnt really weigh anything and its good to have a backup incase i loose one.

the seal pup elite is a great knife IMO for the money.
the only tidbits about it are as you've mentioned the handle and the ridges on the spine.

the handle was a little small for me so i wrapped it with 550 OD paracord which solved the problem. the knife is now very comfortable to hold in the hand and work with.

as for the ridge on the back, i haven't really found a use for them yet. i've read about some people actually grinding the ridges off of theirs although i kinda like the asthetic appeal of the ridges on the back :p

the knife slices very well as i've used it to clean many fish.

cheers

Fish is actually what I had in mind when I asked, thanks. Those ridges are so small I don't see anything meaningful getting stuck in them either.

get a smjled drop in for your maglite. they are only $7 and make your light much brighter. You also get over 25 hours in runtime so you can ditch the spare batteries. They are available at lighthound.com
