My home built grinder

Before any one else responds to Haypros comment I hope Haypro could explain why is this grind not practical.

I think it looks great by the way!

Awesome job on that grinder. It's definately not practical as a cheese cutter :jerkit: but sure looks like a fantastic knife grinder, etc.

Home made tools ROCK :D

doesnt look very pratical

just remember the old saying. "Its better to be stupid and quiet then open your mouth and remove all doubt".
this thread is full of compliments from very good knife makers, if it wasn't practical someone would have said something.

it is actually a KMG style set up which is very functional. Its all good though, if you stick around for a while you will see that many people like this style.

It has come to light that 'haypro' (if genuine), is 11 years old. Gonna have to take his remarks with a grain (or more) of salt I'm afraid.

Trolling, jealous or bad misunderstood joke?????

G.Shahan & retired friend, I love that grinder. That is a great machine!!!!!!

Kudos to both of ya'll.

Robin.... errrr Haypro is an 11yo... he admitted it a bit ago.

I know for me it puts a different perspective on his posts.

supposing everybody is who they say on the internet. He seems to be asking all the trolling type questions.

and isn't there a thing when you sign up that says you have to be 13...? Nobody rape him.

I'm just wondering how long before he's banned.... sorry for changing the subject.

I really like this grinder and using an I beam would make some of the construction simpler for me.

G. Sahan-

I'm sorry too... I probably should have just left the comment alone entirely.

I've got two KMG's, so I know full well just how versatile and practical they are. This is a FANTASTIC home built version of a KMG, so it just irked me to read that comment...a LOT... lol.

Sorry for the derailment. This is an awesome grinder!!! :D

Can i side track a bit here?

For those who use a KMG type, versus a Wilton Square wheel type,
how do you handle dust collection?
Being fully open rather than enclosed like the WSW, does not lend itself to acheiving a good vaccum airflow...

I have read some accounts of those who have a large exhaust fan behind the grinder...ok in summertime, but not an option for me at this time of year...

does anyone use curtains, or...?

This thing throws dust like nothing I've ever seen. I wear a respirator and open the garage door. It's about ten degrees out tonight.

I didn't even give the impractical comment a second thought. It is an awesome grinder I am lucky to have such a good friend.

Thanks again Greg

Wow - that's a slick looking machine. I really like the design of the housing. It looks really tech to me.
