My humble knife collection (+ buying advice)

My questions are different. How can you verify the authenticity of a used knife on the secondary market in a foreign country at too-good-to-be-true prices? Especially with no original packaging?

Would a Japanese collector not expect to pay a swollen sum to import a US made knife? What, then, would be the benefit of reselling for near nothing?
I answered this above. I’m in a somewhat unique position because I have access to an XRF Spectrometer. I don’t buy from resellers. Most of the low cost knives came from people who buy storage containers of deceased people on auction and don’t know the market value of the item.

Kind of morbid, but I’m giving them a good home at least.

Also, for older knives, the fluctuation of the yen and the fact that JP retailers don’t mark up prices as often as US retailers can also lead to some large discounts that are still profitable to the seller.

I think that's enough about the Japanese market and the great deals available there, Rez's (peed upon) couch, and pontificating upon what the legitimate uses of one's money may be.
