My Ivory Lanny's Clip (EDC)

Case still cups some of their liners to stiffen them.

If you use too thin liners the handle material will crack above the center pin, you see this a lot on old knives. It has to be thick enough to support the spring tention.. I use .032 up to 3 5/8 long and .040 for anything bigger than that.

A lot of things they did back in the day wouldn't fly with todays handmade knife buyer.

Taking apart some of the old knives - especially the really old Sheffield made ones - you'll see some amazing things that they did to fit things. With stag scales, it seems they sometimes did almost as much fitting of the pattern to the scales as the scales to the pattern. True though, most modern custom enthusiasts might be less than totally impressed by some of their improvisational skills :D , but impressive nevertheless.

Thank you so much for the kind responses.

Brent, I know this might be asking a lot, and would definitely have to wait until you make another one, but is there any chance of seeing a picture of this knife beside a "standard" size Lanny's clip?

Thanks,
Rob

Rob, your right. It may be a few weeks before I can finish a full size Lanny to compare this one to. Here is a comparison shot of the blade and spring combos after heat treat. Maybe this can give you an idea of the size difference.

Thanks Brent, I would still love to see the finished knives side-by-side if you can swing it.
