A couple of weeks ago I got in contact with Christof and he made my knife. it arrived about a week ago. I planned on doing a more in-depth review, but since Koyote knives are being talked about as of late, I thought that this might be a good time to post a mini-review with some photos. ( sorry, not as good as Bearthedogs)

this is the picture he sent me before shipping it out:

It has flame osage handles, and the blade is a little longer than he generally does for this model, just under five inches. It also has some filework for a thumb to rest on.
The day I got it in the mail, I also received a knife from Spookys Givaway. So I took them both, along with some other favorites, out for a spin.

Along side friends ( second from the left):

A bit of against the grain battoning:

and some with the grain (and a good shot of one of my knife inflicted scars):

The knife performed excellently at all of these tasks. The sheath also holds an LMF swedish army fire steel, and a flint striker (one I got from Siguy)

Great job, thats a sweet looking blade. The flame Osage looks great, nice score.

Why does it look so unwieldy to me? Like the blade would be poorly balanced to the handle. Tip heavy?

How does it feel in your hand?

looks like a nice knife, and it looks like it performs well.

your chopping block (and the mess around it) looks alot like mine :D

i like the flame treatment on the handles, looks good.

oh and the rest of the knives look really nice too...

the blade is actually fairly thin, like a leuku, so the balance is good- I also did a slimmer belly taper than a proper leuku would have. The handle is a bit short looking, which may be part of what you are seeing, but it's another viking thing, the grip is designed to be palmed a bit. Works better with gloves that way, too :D

The scales are fat, and IIRC it balances right up near the beginning of the edge.

Barberphobic: those are some great photos! THanks for doing the cross grain baton. People worry too much about being able to do that with a 1/8 or 3/32 knife :)

it might look "unwieldy" because of the handle to blade length proportion, but really, it is very comfortable to use. fits my hand perfectly.

full tang, 15n20 steel- like L6. It's very tough, though a bit funny to work with compared to 1084 or 5160. Makes really great wilderness blades once you get the hang of working it.

Christof made me a similar knife, almost identical to BarberFobic1992's. Which also arrived today. Celebrate, celebrate! (Get yourself one, you'll celebrate, too. :D )

The balance is right at the front of the handle, but actually, it feels further back when I'm using it, gripping the whole handle. Maybe my hand is just heavy. :p

One thing about Christof's knives doesn't get enough mention and that's the convex grind. The blade is flat, stock thickness, but the convexed edge is about a quarter inch wide. It gleams cleanly, very accurately done, very effective.

The sheath looks like it will hold up to anything, very solid and protective, and the design does allow for a variety of carry styles and customization.

Another happy customer
