I may have mentioned a few times that my first knife was a Girl Scout Camper. The kind made by Kutmaster with the magical "looking Glass" green handle. I have a very vivid memory of staring, fascinated by how a scratch on the clear surface of the cover made a shadow on the green layer underneath. I could make the shadow move as I turned the knife in the light. I was probably about eight or nine years old when I lost it.

Well, look what showed up in my mailbox! No note, and I don't recognize the return address, so I suspect Shenanigans! Whoever sent this, thank you very much!

I'm feeling incredibly nostalgic, and I want to touch up the edge and carry it and open a root beer with the bottle opener, but I can't stop looking at it in the sun and smiling.

Thank you so much!

I wonder if that is the one that was for sale in Trads for sale the other day? - I suspect so, but this made me feel great R8shell when reading this- it made me smile today too!

That was very generous of someone!!! Good to see that your putting it to good use by starring at it. sometimes its the simple pleasures in life.

Great googlie mooglie. Shenanigans indeed.

Hopefully you enjoy it, and it continues to evoke fond memories.

I'm carrying a copy of my first pocket knife, a Scharade old timer medium stockman. I think of the original when I hold it. The original was stolen out of a coat pocket in 4th grade when I put the coat on the rack and went in for lunch. I am fairly confident I know who stole it, and he is in prison for another decade or so.

This is some awesome shenanigans!

Great to see 2 old friends meet up again. Good on the one that sent it, and hope you get many years of memories with the new friend. This porch is awesome.

r8shell,
It looks like whoever found Your pocketknife took good care of it and
returned it when You would appreciate it most. :)

Great stuff for you and the generous donor alike! Glad you plan to put to use--create new memories.

Those are the type of shenanigans that are perfectly welcome around here. Congrats!

I'm glad to know that it showed up Rachel ;)

I sent you a PM explaining....

So the mysterious benefactor reveals himself! Thank you, Jake! (and co-conspirator Sarah) ;)

Neat to have my GSA knife again. I've seen a few for sale here and there, but they were always rusty and wobbly. This one is in great shape - just like I remember mine. So cool!

Full disclosure: I was a Brownie, but I quit Girl Scouts after the first day. Probably as soon as I got a knife out of the deal. :D

What a great thread! Awesome work by the sneaky ones who pulled this off. It warms the heart to see such generosity and to know that you have your favorite knife again. Enjoy that root beer!
