I had the good fortune to get my name on Mike Alsdorf's custom list a while back. He's got a waiting list, so you know what I mean when I say "a while back!" What is really cool is that many, many months ago I contacted one of my BF friends and mentioned that I really liked the custom knives that I have seen of Mike's. I love knives, and in spite of my 10+ years as a member of BF, I still don't no much about selecting knives, unless they are purple. A sad requisite, I know.
My BF friend asked me what type of knife I was looking for, and I said, "I love purple and I love peanuts." So this friend contacted Mike and they had a few discussions and eventually agreed on a knife that I would love. But my friend refused to tell me what it was, but guaranteed me that I would love it. And I would find out the price when the knife was done. Yes, I trust this BF friend very much!
Well, the day finally arrived a few weeks ago when I received word that my custom Alsdorf was ready to ship. I was even sent a link to some pictures of it, plus an added bonus "gift" Mike had made for me. I was just ecstatic when I saw my new knife (photos below). Wow! I sent Mike my shipping address and told him payment was enroute. Mike was so cool that he shipped me the knife before I was even able to get my Paypal payment sent. He said that if I didn't pay him, he's just get the money from his/my friend!
Mike made me the sweetest little peanut interframe in purple and lavender, and my "gift" was a matching pendant. How cool is that? When I got the knife and pendant, I was beyond thrilled. Perfection in Purple (purple being the bonus), and according to another BF friend, GigOne, the blade material (CPM154) "is the hot sh*t now in blade material."
I love this knife. Mike included a very nice and soft leather pouch to hold the knife (I certainly don't want to get it all scratched up!) and I am almost afraid to use it because it is so beautiful. But I am going to use it. Here are the specs on my Alsdorf Custom:
Peanut Pattern, Interframe, Russian Lavender (Charoite) Recon Stone Inlays, Heat Treated 416 S.S. Frames, Frames Milled/Relieved, Hand Finished Satin (1500 Grit) CPM154 Clip, S.S. Pins and Oval Shield.
Pendant Specs: Heat Treated 416 S.S. w/Russian Lavender (Charoite) Recon Stone Inlay.
View the photos and be green with envy! I can't wait to order another Alsdorf Custom. Mike is such a nice man to talk to on the phone, and he trusted me (or my BF friend!) enough to get my knife in the mail before I could get my payment to him.
If you haven't ordered an Alsdorf Custom, you are missing out. I find myself often just sort of walking around nodding my head and thinking, "Yep, I got me an Alsdorf Custom. I'm cool. Yep, I be cool. My Alsdorf is bitchin. And my knife be 'the hot sh*t now in blade material'."
Yeah, I'm pretty pathetic. I think I am all that now because I have an Alsdorf Custom. Well, darn right I am all that! An Alsdorf Custom is something to be extremely proud of. Thank you, Mike!!!
Check it out!!!! And NO, it is NOT for sale. And NO, it will NOT be a safe queen. It's gonna be an EDC.
The blade arrived so sharp that it is almost scarey! But I'm not afraid of anything, but I will respect the blade.
