My Mini RAT Pack

The other day I dropped a little over $100 at countycomm.com and got two of those PCCs (one large one small) along with lots of other little stuff.

The large PCC is going to be the case for a basic "lost in the woods" kit as a gift for someone for Christmas. So far the items that are going in it;

-Victorinox OHT
-Whistle
-Bic lighter
-One of those basic FAKs that countycomm has
-Tweezers (those Uncle Bills Silver Grippers I think they are called, also from countycomm)
-Mini LED
- Some bike inner tube for fire starting
-Maybe some of the tether cord I also ordered for myself...whatever fits..

I thought about a compass, but this person has no knowledge of such things and If they get lost I'd rather they stay put, make a fire if it's cold, and blow the whistle...I think including a compass might complicate things.

good ideas -- going to have to do some thinking on this for making a pouch out of leather.
post more pics so I can scavenge details! :)

DH1- Not sure if you want to put some paracord in it but I found that you can also wrap the tin with some paracord and it will still fit into the pouch, not as well but it will. I was also thinking you could write a few basic ideas(stay put, how to signal) inside the top lid, or a better idea might be to just throw in one of the RAT cutlery cards.

I agree with 1066vik I would love to see some pictures of everyones BOAT type kits!

You might also consider a signal mirror, CoutyComms has a couple and the one made for the Victorinox SOS kit is good too, very thin and light.

that looks really great. Countycom still doesn't deliver outside the US, so I'll have to find something else ...
(by the way, in a crash I lost my link to the shop that sells at least some countycom stuff abroad, and as I can't search, I haven't found back the thread where we posted gear links. It was a sticky once ...could somebody help me to find it, please)

Luckykitty I have that link saved somewhere so if I find it I'll post it here. My problem is I've got thousands upon thousands of links bookmarked and as organized as I try to keep them there's still so many!

I just did a little Google searching. Is it this place? http://www.endtimesreport.com/survival_shop.html

Just an update to codydn. I tried for a pocket kit but came with this instead:

The 'bag' is comprised of three Maxpeditions (EDC Pocket Organizer, 4x6, and Volta) all attached with TacTies and a shoulder strap.

I'm still working on the med kit but have started-out with a couple of quikclots.

This is what's in the tin:

Fenix E01
Pill case with cotton balls, fishing hooks
Magnesium tinder rod
Firesteel Super Scraper
Swedish firesteel
P38 Can opener
Micro Pry Bar
Led light
Issue tweezers

SAK Farmer is also in the bag.

*****************************************

If I was to have a portable pocket carry, I'd keep:

Tin w/contents
SAK Farmer
1 Paracord lanyard = 10.6' length
1 QuikClot
Survival Card
Hand Sanitizer
1-2 pair(s) nitrile gloves
Mini med kit

And put the contents into the Maxpedition EDC Pocket Carrier.

Is this the link you're looking for?

Rankor that is a nice looking kit! Not sure how much room you have but an Israeli Bandage would be a great item to have for first aid. Right now I am working on a kit that will be built around a maxpedition small tactile to hang off a sabercat. I need to pick up some of those aloksak bags! I am weird I love ziplocks and any other kind of cool little bags! Almost forgot I LOVE the foxhound patch!

Thanks for the tips/praise.

For the price of each of those pouches together, I could've plunked it down for a Versipak. The thing I like about this (modular) setup is I can detach some or all of the bags and they can go on the belt or on another bag with PALS webbing.

This pack was originally to get me back home (considering urban survival) in order to get ahold of my bug out kit w/c is composed of a ruck sack and bug-out bag.

I'll look into the Israeli bandage. I picked up the Aloksaks from EM Gear.

I was searching the web for patches and came across this site:

http://www.omlpatches.com

That's where I had mine made.

I have built another one of these for me, and I am now working on a First Aid kit to carry on my maxpedition sabercat, I will have some pictures up in a couple days for you guys. I am not the best on first aid kits so any advice would be great, it would be mostly to carry while on hikes, hunting, ect..
