Well I finally pulled the trigger on this beauty, and Im glad I did. It's absolutely stunning. Truly a work of knife art:thumbup:

(BTW This is not a review, but just some commentary and questions.)

I ordered my 0770cf from the large South American river retailer at 11AM and chose same day shipping, so it was here before 9 at night. Amazingly fast delivery, and all in all the total cost of the purchase was only 140! Super stoked right now. :)

I've been playing with it for a few hours, and while the assist isn't my favorite, I think Ill just leave it in. I tried taking it apart to deassist, but the pivot needed to be held on one side, and turned on the other, requiring two of the same torx bits. I tried to make do with a similarly sized hex bit, but the pivot screw is so lock-tighted on that it just won't come loose, and I don't want push any harder or I might strip it. I've heard this particular model is not that great unassisted anyway, so I'll probably just leave it as is. Or get another torx bit........ Hmmm. We'll see

One thing I like about the 0770cf is the weight. It's almost too light! I was a little freaked out when I first held it, because I was so used to the 0566.

I was a little iffy about the blade shape at first, but its starting to grow on me. I think I actually kinda like it now.

However, my favorite thing about this knife is the beautiful carbon fiber! My only other experience with cf being Spydercos peel ply CF, this is just leagues ahead of anything else I have. And despite the lack of full stainless liners, the knife feels very solid.

I do have a couple questions though..... I heard somewhere that the backspacer was titanium. Is this true, or is it just aluminum or steel? Also, what about the visible part of the pivot? What's IT made of?

Nice! I finally just ordered mine yesterday from USA Made Blade (and got a great price) and can't wait to get it. It's going to look awesome next to my 0777 in my collection. The backspacer I don't think is titanium since it's black...more than likely it is aluminum. The pivot is more than likely steel.

They can anodize titanium just like they can aluminum, so there's really no way to know unless you KNOW:)

I'm pretty sure titanium can't be anodized black but I could be wrong. Certainly wouldn't be the first time lol

Actually I just looked it up, and your absolutely right! Sorry bout that. I just assumed you could anodize it whatever color you wanted to.

So I guess it's either anodized aluminum, or coated titanium..... Or it could be coated steel

Since the whole point of the knife was to keep the weight down, I'm almost positive they would go with aluminum for the backspacer. Lighter than steel, and cheaper than titanium.

Alas, I too have been wrong many times before ;)

Hmm, I was just suggesting steel because it would balance out the knife better. Honestly, that's most likely the only reason they used a backspacer in the CF version as opposed to the stand offs in the aluminum version. Also for looks, but I think it's mostly about balancing out the weight of the blade.

But perhaps aluminum would also weight enough to do the job

Yeah, I see what you mean. The wide Elmax blade would appear to make this knife a little top heavy. I have no way of knowing.

Anyone de-assist one? Wondering how it flips manually. I tried it with an 0350 and it just wasn't right. The pivot screw needed to be loosened to a point where manually flipping it required some side-to-side blade play.
