My New 0770 CF is Here!

Apparently he 'dreamed' the backspacer would be made out of steel to balance the weight of the knife.

Ahh, I see. And to answer your earlier q, I owned one of the aluminum models and ran it de-assisted. Thing fired out great. It was centered and there was no blade play. Even then I cranked it a little past that sweet spot and it still flipped awesome. Not sure how the action is on the CF version, but I would assume it's roughly the same.

Oh God you people take everything so seriously

I was overstating my slight disappointment at fact that the pivot and backspacer likely weren't Ti. Its called humor :)

Thanks, I may give one a shot then...

Sorry, my humor is dry like the desert lol. I think we understand one another, after all my mailman and UPS guy have restraining orders against me... ;)

i could have sworn the back spacer on my 0350 was plastic, so i assumed my 0770cf was the same...never the less, sweet knife for what i paid. 143 shipped, not sure i would pay the 225 zt wants

now that i am looking at it a little closer, the back spacer would have to be metal of some sort, since it has screws on both sides of the spacer, my 0350 has male screws that pass through the back spacer into females, so if it is indeed plastic you wouldnt have screws threading into it...

Taken out of context, this is an amazing quote pertaining to knife people:thumbup::D

Not necessarily many companies have used threaded metal inserts like ez loks before. Also some titanium alloys can be anodized just like aluminium including black (I believe because of their higher Al to Ti content, but I'm no metallurgist)

When/why did they change the liner lock from one with gimping to one with out...I have noticed in a few pics some have it and some don't...I am guessing early models came with and for whatever reason they changed it

ZT made some slight changes when releasing the 0770CF. The carbon fiber model now has a smooth inset liner lock but features jimping on the flipper. The aluminum 0770 has a smooth flipper and jimping on the lock.

Maybe they were listening to customer demand? Maybe they just wanted to change it up? I'm not sure exactly, but I like the small differences between the two.

Thanks, and I agree about the small differences...

Wow! Merry Xmas to me. This whole time I thought it was plastic. Cool! I hated this knife until I deassisted it. Now it is perfect. Anybody make backspacers for it yet?

I'm pretty sure the backspacer is plastic. Mine just came today and it looks like plastic. I haven't taken it apart yet because I'm short one T8 to loosen the pivot but once I do I believe it will be confirmed as plastic.

I believe the backspacer it is aluminum. The prototype originally had standoffs.I recon to guess that a aluminum backspacer is being used to reduce flex. The 0770CF is a really nice lightweight knife in my book.I have a feeling this is not the last version of the 0770 that we will see.Time will tell..............

Discovered a minor issue with my 0770cf...after using it as my edc over my 350 for almost a week, I cut my hand at the base of my thumb while reaching into my pocket to get it out...the space between the scales is enough for that part of my hand to slip between the scales and get nicked by the tip...after this happend, I took the tip of my index finger and ran it across it and sure enough I can feel the tip...

I think it has more to do with the blade design then anything...

Thoughts?
