I thought the Calypso Jr. was pretty much the ultimate until the Caly 3 came out. Love them both, but the Caly 3 stays in the pocket better...

Congrats on a great knife. My CF/ZDP Caly3 was all I carried until I saw that it was leaving wear marks on all of my jeans, but even then I'd often prefer to switch pockets rather than carry something else. I originally thought that I'd keep carrying my older Native, but it never stood a chance.

Another knife has superseded my Caly3 recently - I won't say which one, but it rhymes with 'small credenza and dingo' - but the CF Caly is the only one from my collection that I'm still interested in.

Agreeded, it is the next on my buy list. I have had it in hand a couple of times and really like it. How does it ride in your pocket? do you notice the pivot pin at all when you are getting it out of your pocket?

Anyone know why the pivot pin is so bulbous? It doesn't cause me any issues but it does seem a bit odd on such a highly refined knife.

Just got a Caly 3.5 Super Blue user, have one new in the box I have not been able to bring myself to start using. It is a great knife and has been in my pocket the last two days since receiving it and I have a feeling it will be staying there for some time. The super blue steel has a warm feeling to it, it doesn't have the same feel/texture as my other knives in the various stainless steels like 154cm, s30v, M390, etc.... Is is wrong that I am looking forward to getting some more use on it to justify introducing it to the sharpening stones.

I had a Caly 3 ZDP laminate until my girlfriend stole it from me. Yep, she took it, and has been carrying it ever since. When I asked her why, she said it's because she knew I'd want her to have an awesome spyderco. I can't say I'm happy, but I'm not mad either. It shows she has good taste.

I would love to see this knife with a S30V blade. I'd buy that without a moments hesitation assuming its not unreasonably pricied.
I would rather have solid blade with newer Carpenter steel, bolsters, no clip and ironwood scales, but I love as is too.

I have a VG10/SE Caly 3. I'd love a PE version to keep it company!

I managed to break a bunch of serrations on my SE Caly 3, because I just wasn't very nice to it. So I made it into a combo-edged wharncliffe and now it's just awesome :)

To the best of my knowledge Carpenter is making steels similar to S30V and S90V, but in addition of these two they are making several more PM second generation steels, like CTS-B75P, which close to PM variant of BG42, CTS-204P, which should perform like M390, CTS-XHP, which per Sal stainless PM variant of D2 and few others. Most of them looks much more interesting than S30V. I really doubt that Moki, who produced Caly3 will use American steel. I heard on few occasions that Japanese makers strongly prefer Japanese steels. I saw few Japanese kitchen knives with Sandvick blades, but this is it.

I have to say that BG-42 is one of my favorite steels for a knife. Maybe Sal will bring the Caly3 home and offer some different steel options as sprint runs.

This will be great, but I think that possibility of this is very remote. But I would love to see US made Caly3/3.5 with many sprints and I think that I am not alone. IMHO Caly3/3.5 are among best production knives for EDC. I carry them for the last six years.

Well I wish Sal would expand the CO operations. I know that's tricky in terms of quality. I will say that the Taiwan knives are outstanding.
With all the steel options, I still love S30V as the best general knife steel. I have no trouble sharping it with my Sharpmaker....Caly3 CF S30V now that is a dream knife.

Thats cool, Gorsnak. I have a 3.5, but would like to add a 3 to my rotation when the time is right.

The Caly is one of my favorite knives. I got two of the VG10 versions just before they were discontinued; one is in my EDC rotation and the other is still BNIB. Earlier this year I picked up a VG10/G10 Caly3.5.
