Greetings porch dwellers ! This just arrived today, my friend RayseM RayseM had recommended a place that I might find a Laguiole knife and he was correct, it arrived just today and is quite nice with excellent fit and finish and my favourite wood, Juniper.

So, this is what I will use as my Covid Testing Device, I will hold the knife up near a person's face and ask them what this smells like...if they say 'gee I don't smell anything...' then that gives me a clue that they might have covid, as one of the signs, not always the case, is to lose sense of smell and taste. I'll not have them lick my knife, but the Juniper wood exudes a nice peppery smell, for me at least, unlike my friend Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery who seems adverse to it ;) go figure!

Here'a a quick shot of the folder, NOW I can post again in my French thread on Friday's ;) that plus, it's very nice...

Very nice -- love the look of the juniper! I can smell it through my monitor screen -- that's a good thing, right? :)

JW225 JW225 if you can smell it through your monitor, they will need to give you a 'Special' test I'm afraid...
and yes, it's very nice, said in my best French accent ;)

lol that might produce more trouble, both covid and law wise, so, thanks for the tip but I'll keep the tip folded into the handle ;)

Here's a few more images,

Mine arrived with a very toothy edge, great for food I am guessing.

Sweet.
I've 1 in bullhorn. The T12 steel works pretty well
Thabks for sharing.

Good to hear it is my first time using a blade with that steel

Smells like the Black pepper corn used on pepper steak, to me, it smells great.

I mentioned in the other thread about the beauty of the wood, that file work is down-right nice as well. Beautiful knife!

I hadn't seen or heard of a knife handled in juniper. That's gorgeous.

Juniper trees are ubiquitous where I live. I've always wondered what potential the wood might have for projects like this. I've seen lots of rustic-style furniture made from it. That's a beautiful example of something different, taking the creative use of juniper up another notch or two.

I have a somewhat skewed and conflicted perspective on the whole 'smell of juniper' thing. The wood smells great when we trim the trees on our property. But, our local coyotes are known to eat the juniper berries if or when other options aren't available to them - coyotes take whatever they can find when they're hungry. Those berries tend to go right through them relatively undigested. And the coyote 'leavings' in the street and on our driveway smell just like the juniper berries. That kind of rocks one's perception of all things that are (supposed to be) 'normal' in the world of smells.

Well, who actually knows what smells and tastes are normal? Haven't you heard of Kopi Luwak? 😂
