My new custom leather dangler/scout hybrid BK9 sheath made by Mywifethinksimcrazy....

Lookin' great, brother. I'm sure it is a lot lighter than mine. Does it have an attachment for a leg strap?

We need action pics! Strap it onto a 22 yr old blonde and take out the camera!
I'll second that! Great looking sheath also man!

After a address debacle I wont go into, the mailman saved himself a beatdown and I got my sheath today!

Awwww Mannn!! This thing is baddass! It's BETTER than I thought! The "spring loaded" retention strap is genius. The smoothness of the knife going in and out is impressive. Will shoot a quick video of it later tonight so you can get a better look. Need to get a couple bigger firesteels...but I think one of the ones I ordered from Dealextreme is the same size as the Army steel. Otherwise will order some Firesteel.com steels for it. I did order 100ft of milspec shock cord today for stuff like firesteel-loop retention. I also think I should do a light sand on the wood grips and get a cherry or similar stain to match the sheath.

This is a bomb-ass sheath! Thanks to Nick for being able to put my idea together. And yes, the BK9 is AWESOME in the scout position, especially with this sheath. You just reach back and that handle naturally finds it's way into your hand.

Video to come....

That's what I did too, order 100 of shock cord. Stuff freakin comes in handy. I originally purchased it for my firesteel, on my BK2 sheath mod. Good to see you like the sheath. Look forward to the video.

I must have missed something even after re-reading. What sheath is this?

Still doing stuff, but will get to the video soon. The biggest problem with a hybrid sheath is deciding which way to keep it in. Also wondering if I should just go find a matching leather belt and use it for the knife in scout mode...instead of taking my main belt on and off to remove the sheath. If you aren't wearing alot of stuff and are doing a lot of moving around, its definately feels more secure on your back.

Right, I thought you meant another sheath because shock cord was mentioned.

Oh, no. Its just because it has a two-loop firesteel holder on it, and I like to use shock cord on the firesteels and then just tuck the loop down under the ferro end...making it impossible to get out.

Tanner, I am so releaved that you got it, I can't even begin to tell you how much.

One thing that I love about the sheaths that I make is that you don't have to take your belt off to put the sheath on or take it off. The straps are held together with heavy duty snaps and so it the dangler loop. Just pop 'em open and thread the straps around your belt, then snap 'em down. Good to go!!

I'm looking forward to your video. I'm very happy that you like it.

Genius! Having to take your belt almost all the way off blows, heavy duty snaps are the way to go!

Cool gotcha! It's funny cause when you first told me the thread was about the sheath. I felt kinda stupid and went all the way through it again. I still somehow missed the shock cord relation until you just told me. I feel better now.

This is just a quick and dirty video to see how it turned out. Will try and do one on a tripod this weekend so you can see it on me in scout.

Whoa! That video sucks! Looks like I need to turn the video settings on the camera back up to HD.

Went and bought a belt for the sheath ($20..ouch!). Got it juuuust the right length and added a few holes. I can now wear it over top my belt holding my pants up, ORRRR expand it further and wear it bandolier style similar to Nicks Eli sheath. Pics after I get the kids down to bed. The loose idea I have formulating in my head is to add a few implements to the belt to make it a multi-use bushcraft belt. Just trying to figure out what. My idea is to add a hawk loop on one side, and give Nick the width of the belt and see if he can make a "sheath" of some sort to hold an altoids-sized tin like what you put in a BK7-9 sheath. Dont want to overload it till it becomes a police duty belt. The Hawk loop will be able to either serve as a hawk holder, or a place to attach a locking biner with survival redundancy items attached. Got a few other ideas...need to sketch them out. Needless to say, I'll be putting Nick back to work soon.

That thing looks amazing! Fantastic looking job there Nick! Love the retention strap thing you did there.

Really nice work Nick. You've come a long way in a short amount of time. Good stuff my friend.
