My new fixture

We use similar for wood working when routing many pieces at a time...aka.. long router bit. The cut outs are a guide for the bearing on the router... not hte actual blade. You can stack several pieces of wood in the gullet of the contraption. We use wood in case it gets cut.. but I assume with knives it is not an issue.

I can see this same thing for cutting scales or whatever.. although 2.5" is kinda wide for handle scales.

no washer marks on the thing leads me to believe it was not bolted down.

Saw mark on the inside seems like was used to saw through the material and was an 'oops' there..there are slide marks on the inside.. seems it may be used to guide material back and forth..

dunno.... I like this post though.. nice diversion..

Used to flaten scales

Stuart.. mr axe.. did you see that program on discovery about weapons and weapons of the middle ages...they rated all weapons and gave scores.. and the most effective weapon across the board was the small axe. Used by the Franciscans when they conquered the Gauls and many others.. and created modern day France.

Said of all weapons the axe had the least amount of defense against and has the most effective attack..

anyway....I might have messed up some of the data.. but that is what I remember they said....saw your axe and thought I would share...

they also said the axe was thrown at the ground and it would 'bounce wildly' and throw off the attacker.. then the dude would hit them with another one as they were dodging the first. I guess they carried a sack of the things..

man.. you make super nice axes. I love axes.. I have a collection... mostly working axes though.

Although I bought one of those runner competition axes.. just cause..

People on ebay sell axes all the time..
anyway.. off topic.. sorry..

Thanks nutria, I missed the Dicovery program. They will probably air it again while I am sitting here trying to figure out what this danged fixture is for.

It bolts to the side of your boat to hold an axe that you can use to smack the fish that won't fit in your net.

There were some interesting ideas but no one has got it yet. If no one gets it by tonight around 9 pm, I'll post what it is.
Think simpler. It's not used on my belt grinder.

What time is it there?

No one knows what it is used for? exactly?

.

It's a jig for aligning your holes with a specific knife..through the scales and knife in one fell swoop. Everything nice and tidy.:)

Where did he go? Carma is a mofo! I think this thing is for assembling the different pieces of the handle, bolsters, liners, etc., together prior to drilling/attaching all at once to a handle, which I never do because I like to live dangerously.

BTW Michael, you're gonna need to change your website::D

"All of my knives are completely hand made and hand ground without the use of any fixtures."
