Hey Guys…

Here is a few pictures of my second forged knife from beginning to end…

Knife was forged out of 1084 1” X1/4”bar stock, under the watchful eye of Master Blade-smith Wally Hayes

This is the knife blank pretty much forged to shape

This picture,, the blank is profiled, although pommel changed slightly.

This picture the knife is coming to shape. Rough grinds are in, although I chased the grind all the way to the top and lost all of my hammer marks….Ohh Well!

This is the knife done , the clay temper line shows nicely…

Another view. Handle is 550 cord wrapped with Cyanoacrylate treatment making for very durable non slip handle.

Anyway,, was a really fun knife to make, I’m for sure going to be making more of this model in the future..

Special thanks to Wally Hayes for all of his help and constant guidance.

Thanks for looking guys…

I never heard of Cyanoacrylate treatment, but then again, I am no knife maker too lol. At first, when I saw the first pic, I was like WHOAH, that is ROUGH. Then I saw the finished product and was feeling the immediate desire to hold it. I actually stubbed my fingers on the screen. :( ... :)

Nice work dude!

dude.. that is cool looking knife... great job, especially for a second time..:o i was wondering where you have been, i guess you've been busy making knives..:D right on..

i love that temper line...

Hey Guys..

Thanks Much.. :)

I'm very happy with the Temper line..
Probably one of the most enjoyable things to do..
I'm looking forward in experimenting with some different patterns...

Mystical

"Cyanoacrylate treatment"

Basically Crazy Glue,,, Shhhh !

I use Rocket "Hot", super thin and goes right through the cord and cures Rock solid...
Good stuff...

great work, love the clay temper line.

Whats the blade length and overall?

Very well done. I like that temper line too, kind of Samurai. Mac

If you decide to do this again. Sharpen the knife at this point, do the clay thing, and sell it to me just like this. :) I think that this with an edge on it would make an awesome knife.

Normark

We always read from new knifemaker's that the hardest part is to make a sheath.... here you've made a knife anyone of us would be happy to use..in only "four frames".....

My question then... are knifemaker's babies or do sheath maker's rule..from what I see above you're definately one sheath maker who rule's..

Wow, I thought you had found your niche with the awesome sheaths you turn out, seems you are going to be a master knifemaker as well !!!!

Good to hear from ya again Eric !!!

that's a beauty! that hamon is really nice - sort of a cross between a bushcraft knife and something from feudal japan

I'm really sorry to see how that knife turned out.

Doing a great job like that is definitely going to addict you, and we will see even less of you than we do now. :(

Puts some wood slabs on that handle and I'd have to agree!

Nice work, Eric.
If the second one of anything I ever did looked that good, I would stop right there!

Eric, looking good man. that is a nice looking blade, lets us know how it works.
