My new lone star hunter

I won't be pulling it apart. When a buy a knife I expect it to work. It cost me $80aud plus $10aud for postage and took a month to get. Cold steel haven't contacted me at all .

Ok So I picked up the knife today after it's been sitting around , the lock bar was actually sitting up above the frame while the knife was still locked open. Wtf. Cold steel , you can pay for me to ship this back, fix it for free and ship it back to me, and I want an actual reply from you too , as you've been ignoring this thread so far

Good luck with that.

So you are telling me a manufacturer is gonna ignore warranty ? That's an open admission right there.

I don't know of any manufacturer that will cover shipping both ways. Every warranty I've ever encountered in any industry requires you ship the faulty product to them so they can repair or replace it.

You know what , you win cold steel. I'm gonna swallow a $90 Australian dollar loss . Just teaches me to never buy your shit again. Mr Lynn c Thompson , probably on your third buffet meal for the day , sort out your customer service , or don't , just rip off another design , or sue someone. :jerkit:

This is outright defective , hence its on the company to replace or fix it and return it. I'm not paying the cost of the knife in postage to return it

I agree and I don't blame you for not wanting to drop the cash to ship it.

But I don't know of any company that will cover shipping to them to cover a warranty issue.

Hopefully, this will be an exception and you'll get a solid, functional knife, but I doubt they'll make a policy exception.

Personally, if I would have to ship a knife overseas to have warranty work done I buy it with the assumption that there is no warranty for exactly this reason. If you bought it through a local dealer you might try contacting them to see if they'll facilitate a return or exchange.

Them grapes sure are sour.

This is my last post on this subject. I am not a troll , this knife was not what I thought it was gonna be ( dependable straight outta the box) I can't afford to send it back , as it'll cost me what I paid for it , in postage to return it. I'm disappointed that it seems to be acceptable to cold steel to keep selling knives with said triad lock that needs work when you buy it for the lock to work and unlock , yet they keep selling them . I've seen nothing from any cold steel moderator , or mr Lynn c Thompson to try to fix the situation, and you say I'm supposed to pay to post back something that should have worked normally straight outta the box . This is BS . He sues other companies because their locks work. Seriously , mr Thompson should be fucking ashamed of himself

It sucks you got a defective product. It shouldn't have shipped like that, no excuses. Unfortunately, we live in an imperfect world and lemons make it past QC. I'm all for calling the manufacturer on the carpet and letting the manufacturer know that it's not acceptable. However, you don't appear to be willing to do anything about this issue other than complain on the internet. As I said, unlike some I think that's actually a valuable first step, but if you refuse to ship it to the manufacturer, refuse to speak with the dealer about facilitating a replacement or refund, refuse to break it down and attempt to fix the issue yourself, my sympathy starts to evaporate.

I suspect this will stew and simmer for a while. Then you're going to remember the feelings you had when you wanted the knife and you'll break it down, discover the problem, fix it, and have a knife that's worth what you paid. Then, you'll appreciate it more for the trauma you went through for it. Let us know what you finally end up doing. I'm pulling for you to get this sucker doing its job.

Here's another possibility: Put it up for sale to an Aussie on the exchange here. Sell it for a bit below what you paid with the admission that it's not working to spec. They will be pleased to get the chance to fix it, not have to pay full price, and you get a bit of your money back and continued bragging rights about how you hate Cold Steel and don't own any of their products anymore.

If I were nearby, I'd take it off your hands.

Good suggestion . But how do I post a locked open knife ? Last time I managed to close it , it bit me .

Leave it locked open. Wrap in butcher paper, newspaper, cardboard, whatever will cover it completely. Put it in a mailing tube or long narrow box, address it, apply postage, and voilà! No longer your problem!

I own nearly two dozen cold steel products , this was the only one to let me down .i'll be keeping them

Take it apart and fix it these lock backs aren't hard to disassemble. KAI has the best warranty in the business but it still cost me $5 to get my knife to Oregon. Some companies even charge for work at their discretion. Seriously take it apart and if you get stuck post back for assistance.

This situation is unfortunate indeed. I wonder if a guy could go to a tech. school or a machine shop and let the instructors eyeball the knife, and ask their opinions on how to fix it. Odds are one of them would likely offer to work on it, or one of the students, for free. Or offer an explanation for the malfunction. Just tossing out ideas, I feel for ya OZ. To be honest I am surprised that C.S. didn't just send you a new one. I had a Condor Hudson Bay with a warp in the blade. I contacted Condor and explained that shipping the defective knife would be just like buying another, or close to it cost wise. They sent me another in the mail. I gave proof of the blade warp through emailed pictures.
