My new Military

Try pairing your Millie with a Techno for a more sheeple friendly alternate where appropriate...I do frequently, and the Techno fits perfect in my jeans watch pocket directly above my Millie.

Good suggestion. I usually always have my Vic Farmer in my back pocket no matter what knife I'm primary EDC'ing. I've yet to have anyone get freaked out by the farmer. Yet.haha

If you like titanium handled framelocks and haven't yet tried one of the Taichung Spydies, the Techno is almost sure to be a smash hit for you. It's almost certainly one of, if not the most sheeple friendly knives I own, from my own experience.

Just checked the techno out. Looks like a nice blade. Holy cow it's pricey. Still hard to wrap my head around quality knives coming out of Taiwan. My whole life, and primarily childhood, I remember all the junk knives I had that were made in Taiwan. I would love to try one out (techno, and especially a sage2!) before I order one.

I usually pair my Military with a smaller knife as well. I have a Native 5 FRN on the way to me which will ride as a companion piece to the Military. While the Military would be the one and only knife I would keep if I could only have one knife for the rest of my life, having a smaller blade at times is a plus. But I really don't consider the Military that big; especially next to a Tantanka!

The Taichung Spydercos have the best fit and finish in my experience (Out of my 39 Spydies), and the Techno is worth every single penny. It's just a very well sorted and impeccably designed knife.

The techno is a very nice knife and very well built. The ergos are not for everyone though. I would suggest handling before you buy. The sage 2 on the other hand...can't remember ever hearing anyone say that one wasn't comfortable. I actually prefer the ti millie to both of them.

That's what I really want!!!! The sage 2 looks like a great blade!!

I want to put this thing to some use this week! Maybe take my boys up in the woods and see what we can get into.

This thing slices like crazy! Cut up some apples and smoked Gouda cheese for the kiddos at dinner. I'm glad I went with the satin finish on the blade. It's comes clean with a wipe from a clean napkin or dish towel.

I bought a S30V camo handle Military last year. This past week, I gave it away. Unused, in the box.
Nephew back from Afghanistan, 10 years in the Army, and has been in every chit hole conflict the Army has seen. Blackhawk crew chief.
I thought he needed a welcome back to the world present. He LOVES it. The look on his face when I handed it to him was worth 10 times the price. :D

For self defense purposes, I would carry the Military any day...it simply has more reach. And I like the fact that it has a familiar locking mechanism....And the light weight is totally misleading. You would think that it wasn't as solid as the Paramilitary 2, but since it has a backspacer and a liner that covers the area critical for structural integrity, it's solid as a rock! Tip down sucks, but it's not the end of the world...

That is an awesome story!! Couldn't think of a better situation to give one away!!

I hear you there. Tip down doesn't really bother me that much as the fact that my hand will sometimes catch the jimping while going into the pocket. But that's only the case with certain pants/jeans I wear.

I have no reservations about the locking mechanism. I think it's as stout as any other. Purchasing this military has restored my faith and interest into the liner lock knives. As a result, I have been seriously looking at purchasing the gale Bradley. Actually selling my hest 2.0 to buy one. I do not think the frame lock is that much stronger than a good proven liner like the ones on the Millie or GB.

The gayle bradley is an awesome knife. Love the steel. Love the handle. Love the ergos. I just never really used mine much because I didn't care for the blade profile. I'm more of a fan of flatter spines and finer tips like on the millie and pm2. Still kind of regret selling my gb though. Very fine knife!

Hi Gizler,

Thanx for the comments and pics. Glad you like the piece. The Military has been refined and evolved for almost 20 years. We like to think of it as a "nice tool".
