My new Sebenza

Thought I would add my $0.02 and say for the money it is hard to beat the Sebenza.
Honestly I don't think I could talk my wife into letting me purchase another high $$$ knife. "Can you say plausible deniability?"
"Oh this, I traded such and such a few knive for this one. Remember I told you about it a couple of weeks ago?"

St. James,
Will do, working on it tonight as a matter of fact, had several to do this week, the wife's getting a little upset at the mess I create in her kitchen, time to move into a bigger house?
The one for my small Sebenza will have the Indian head on it, like the one on my web page of the Benchmade Mel Pardue auto, only in a lighter shade, similar to the large Sebenza shown above.

Gary, the design sounds like a winner. I will be contacting you directly to get one. Glad to hear that you picked up the small Sebenza you had been talking about.

I might have to send that large to you sooner than I thought...

I work with Gary G., commonly known as G2. I have seen several samples of his leatherwork. His craftsmanship is excellent. The knives are held tightly in the sheath which he custom fits. I will probably break down eventually and buy one from him.

Right now I am currently hooked on clips however. This phase too will pass.

By the way, I have Gary to blame for turning me into a "knife nut".

Definition: Knife nut- A person who buys a large Sebenza and doesn't carry it for fear of scratching it. Yes, I fall into that category. My current beater is a BM AFCK. I have no fear of scratching or damaging my BM as long as I have my Benza secure in its box.
WIERD. Very, very WIERD.

Oh well, my wife SAYS she loves me, but on the other hand she doesn't know what I paid for the Benza.

Greenie, (Carl) sorry I have been such a bad influence on you, not to mention the others out on the shop floor. I can't help it, the doc says I've got too much iron in my blood. But now, Carl, you must convert another to the fold or bad luck will follow you forever!

But as for Sebenzas, well, now I've gone and done it, I have a new style large Sebenza on the way, so, lets see, that makes;

1 Old style Large Sebenza
1 New style Large Sebenza
1 New style Small Sebenza

Gee, guess I'm still missing an old style small Sebenza and an Umfaan, Huh, gotta get to work on that, especially the Umfaan.

Decorated ones, can't even think about those!

Chris sent Spyderco one of his Sebenzas for destruction. We are pleased to say that the Sebenza easily surpassed Spydercos "A" lock strength (exceeds 400 inch/lbs of force (torque for the "space" guy) to force failure. What we consider "Acceptable for heavy duty use".

It failed exactly as Chris and the R & D dept predicted. The failure was not catastrophic. We would have to say that the lock is excellent. Nicely done Chris/Anne.

This is not a testimonial for that style of lock, just for the one made by the Reeve's. The geometry of this lock requires very close tolerance to be effective. We cannot speak for any lock we haven't tested ourselves.

I recently sent Gary a Large Decorated Sebenza for sheath fitting. I hope he does some thinking about it while making the sheath.

I have ended up purchasing both sizes in plain and decorated, as well as Umfaans that match. I also have matched seriel numbered LCD9 & LCD109's. I am next looking to trade a new BG-42 Large for an old Handle style Large. What I have to watch out for are the Damascus blades.

I love my old-style Large Sebenza but that isn't going to stop me from eventually getting a new style Small Sebenza. I bought mine four years ago just before I got married so it got in under the gate as far as telling the missus'. She's great about all the knives laying about in various states of re-sharpening etc. She even knows who the various makers and manufacturers are and when I wax poetic about the virtues of the Sebenza versus other lesser liner lock knives she nods approvingly and asks questions she knows I can't wait to answer- God, I love that knife lovin' woman! (I think a Umfaan in her future)

St James, it'll be tough seeing and not wanting to have a decorated one, I'll take some advil every time I start to work on the sheath for that knife, maybe it will curb the urge for one, maybe, maybe....
