Hey guys I have been talking about building a real shop for a while, I have been working in a carport and in my kitchen for a while and it is time to step it up!

I'll document the process here with photos. I'm going with a simple 12x24 on skids.

I just talked to the contractor a moment ago, he checked out the site and expects to start by the middle of next week!

Here's where it's going, the flattest piece of land on my 10 acres! I cleared the site with a machete. :D

Congratulations for getting the inclosed shop you deserve. That will keep you from getting arthritis in your hands from constantly working in the cold!

Awesome man! Gonna have a fridge in there?

A dedicated shop huh.We have a saying at work...if you're cold,you're not working hard enough! :D
Now you're going to be complaining about the heat in the summer, better get an ac too.;)
Congrats Daniel.

Looks awesome Daniel! Congrats on the beginnings of your new shop:thumbup:

I did notice they were frozen today, lol this evening I noticed it felt warm, it was 37. :D

Congrats Daniel, Hope its a great addition for you.
Thanks, I am excited to expand!

You know it! I have a deep freeze that will double as my storage table and a kegerator just in case. I just need to find time to make more beer! I need a mini fridge for snacks but in the winter I can keep them in a box on the porch, the benefits of the cold!

A microwave, some frozen burritos... coffee, lots of steel. I could be in there for days. :D

Sounds like construction, I've done that! Lol I stay warm except for the days when I finish grind, the water gets to me. Last winter there was about a week where we were around 20F below at night and my drill press wouldn't run, lol I'm doing it for the tools!

I hope to step up my production by expanding and I will be able to keep my house safer, with a baby on the way having knives in the kitchen sounds tough. I will have space to have all my tools ready and will be able to add more for more knives and quality!

Man, if you've been doing all this work on a carport, just think what you'll be able to do in a proper shop!!!

Bear might get them on the porch!!!!! Better leave 'em in the fridge.

Congratulations!

Glad we got to know you, before you went bigTime!

It's going to be nice!

Lol I left my trash out last week because the bears might be hibernating and my neighbors dog got it, I better keep everything inside! Squirrels did steal my compound...

Congratulations!

Get your orders in while you can folks,Daniel's going up town!

Seriously though,I'm very jealous.I live in an apt. & have to go to work on my days off to
do any projects.(some times I can squeeze 'em in at work;))
It's going to be a great feeling when you get it all set up & ready to rock.

The blades you've been doing without a "real" shop are incredible! Can't wait to see what's coming when your shop's up and running!!!!

Going to work on your day off is tough! I am excited to have the new shop soon!

Nice! How long do you estimate until you have the roof over your head?
We're hoping to start the construction late next week and it will only take a few days to get everything dried in, after that it's drywall and electric time... hopefully that goes fast. I'm excited that it is all finally coming together!

Thanks! I think the new shop should help a lot, I plan on separate rooms for finishing and grinding and I think the separation will help speed things up some as I don't have to deal with cross contamination as much, also I will have enough room to be organized and work on a bigger scale. :D

I still use my porch and kitchen for knifemaking, it will be nice to do most of my work in one shop!

I'm going to hook up a loud stereo and maybe a TV, it will be my second (first?) home!
