Hello all,

This is one I just finished up for myself. It's O1, blade is approximately 5". I was going to put green canvas micarta then another forum member sent me a great set of orange g-10 scales and I couldn't resist. I'm still making the sheath (It's drying after wet molding) and a firesteel with a matching orange G-10 handle to ride on the sheath with it.

So far it's been great. The finish is not the most perfect but I wanted it for a user for me so I didn't bother making it too nice. I've used it a bit already for chopping some fines across the road from my mailbox and cutting some other items. It has a flat grind with a convex edge. Oh, the line on the blade in the first pic is from the masking tape I had over the edge while working on the sheath.

Any and all comments are welcome. I will post pics of the completed package as soon as it is done.

Thanks for looking. Many great knives posted on here provided the inspiration for this one.

very nice charlie....:eek:great work.. i like the blade design...

looks like a great woods knife....

nice simple design, good size for chopping and slicing, nice handles, easy to find if dropped in snow or the woods......Nice knife!

That looks perfect. Simple, sharp and stout. The orange looks good too, you definitely have to post the matching ferro rod when it's done.

Mean to write that I learned a very important lesson while making this one. No matter how impatient you are to get it done, resist the urge to sharpen it up to shaving sharp before you've put the handles on. (notice the scar on my palm?).

I really like the looks of that one, Charlie. flat-grind, convexed edge, 5" blade...perfect. I will be interested in seeing what sort of sheath you put together for it.

Looks like a good working blade, just the way I like them. Great job on it. O1 is all I use on my blades, along with the flat grind, it should work out very well.

Very nice work. I love orange G-10, probably my second favourite to Green Canvas Micarta.

Lets see the sheath:thumbup:

that looks great man!!! +1 on posting the fire steels. i may have to order up some ferro rods myself.

Looks like a winner to me

Orange G-10 is way cool. I like the handle design, looks very comfortable.

I have a question for you..did you heat treat yourself ? and how ?

Yeah, I built a small forge with the help of Darren Ellis. It's one of the reasons I like O1, fairly easy to heat treat yourself.

I heated it up to non-magnetic. Let it soak for 10 minutes, then quenched in vegetable oil. This will be my 7th knife I've done that way and they definitely hold an edge well.
