  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

My next Spyderco....... Sage what?

Sure, in your opinion. I guess many people just don't feel the same. I do know plenty of people who love the sage 3. But it's just not what I'm looking for at the moment

Sage 2 is on the way! So exited.

The best part is that amazon's shipping prices are kind of messed up in that both the standard and two day shipping would cost me more then the next day shipping! Soooo, my sage two will be here TOMORROW!!! WOOOOO!:thumbup::D

Nice pick! I think the Sage Ti is one of the best Spydies ever made. It's fit and finish is not like a $140 knife. It's just incredible how great a design it is. I think the frame lock is an amazing lock, ti is one of the best or the best handle and lock materials, the blade on the Sage is very useful and easy to upkeep, and Spyderco's S30V has a great heat treatment. I generally carry a 705 with a 707 blade, but the Sage Ti is right next to it for my favorite small folders.

That's great. I'm looking forward to hearing your initial impression.

500lbman, just how textured is the CF on the sage 1? I remember handling one a couple years ago and recall finding it VERY bumpy. Is it more toned down than i remember? The sage 2 is still most likely the one I will buy, but the sage 1 still might make a comeback if the CF is better than I remember.

The CF on the Sage 1 is very light. It's basically smooth, just enough texture to add a little bit of grip, but it is not rough or coarse by any means. The Sage 2 would look cool if you "nuked" the Ti slabs, similar to what people are doing with their Sebenzas. I think they are tumbling and acid washing the Ti so they get uniform scratches and a "patina" so they look old and worn.

get the sage 2, it is a fantastic knife, comfortable, great blade shape, very smooth, excellent fit and finish, and yes framelocks are far more exciting than linerlocks. amazon for 143......all ti is awesome.

congrats!

Tomorrow's gonna be like Christmas morning hehe:D

You know, 500lbman, your description of the CF is jogging my memory and i think I remember what it felt like. AND NOW IM GOING TO HAVE TO GET IT EVENTUALLY.....DAMN:grumpy:
I promised myself I wouldnt do this

Sage 2 is a beautiful knife that works great as an EDC or as in my case on duty, in a shirt pocket; it's that light.

The lock works very well, don't worry about the ti interface. It works great

GOT IT!

OK, where to start...... Pictures just dont do this knife justice. It is soooo much better than I expected it to be! The fit and finish is out of this world, and you REALLY need to handle it to know just how amazing this knife is. The sound upon opening is borderline orgasmic. I love the framelock design and It doesnt seem to be showing any wear yet (ive been flicking it for a few hours). The knife came stupid sharp and cuts like a demon, even through cardboard (which Ive heard is hard with the type of brushed finish the sages have). The one thing thats iritating me is that the lock is a little sticky. It came a bit sticky, then had no stick, and now is more sticky than when it came. maybe that means its wearing? Should I lube the tang and contact point on the lockbar? Anyway, this knife is amazing. Its going to see LOTS of pocket time for the next while. My 707 will still always be my favorite edc, but the sage 2 will always be my second favorite :D

Even though pics dont do it justice and theres a million of them out there, heres some I took when I first got it. The lightings pretty bad, but whatever

Throw a little graphite on the lock face (blade or Ti face) or just use pencil lead to stop the stickiness. Works great usually.

I was going to be a smart ass and recommend the Sage #5 but I see you already got that beautiful #2. Congratulations!

Thanks everyone. This knife has definately exceeded my expectations and I really appreciate the Taiwan spydies now! Everything about this knife screams quality.
I think one of my favorite features is how thin it is in hand. It just feels amazing to use and the ergos are perfect
