I would like to start things of by saying if this is posted in the wrong place please move it. Anyway on to the story, yesterday I received my pm2 in the mail yesterday. I was in love, and I still am. I spent all day fondling it, smiling at how smoothly it glides shut. All was good until that night, I was doing the same thing I was doing all day, opening and closing it. I went to clip her to the inside of the waistband of of my athletic shorts. I somehow failed to properly clip it, and the knife fell down my shorts. During the fall the blade somehow opened up and landed just right, so that the edge fell dead on my foot, right on the tendon below my big toe.

Less than a minute after the accident, I'm pretty sure that white thing is my tendon.

My stepmom saw the wound and decided I needed sutures (she's an ER nurse). So then we went on a fun journey to the ER. After some checking in and basic info. I got myself a room. I got the cut looked at and if was determined I had 3mm cut on my tendon. They decided to take an X-Ray of my foot to make sure all was good. When the X-Ray came back it turns out all is good. Next up is the fun part

The cut at the hospital.

Now it was time for sutures, this was my first time getting them, but I think 17 years was a good stretch. First I got three shots inside the cut to numb the area for the sutures, that was by far the worst part. I'm not gonna lie those shots hurt quite a bit. However I was very grateful for them as it made the sutures go in very nicely. After that I even got a nice boot to wear around when walking, I think it's to keep the tendon from moving. I also get to go see a pediatrist sometime next week as a follow, I'll update you guys when that happens.

Three pretty blue sutures.

To wrap things up, but learned a vital lesson, don't drop a knife on your foot. I think it's cool to think of about the odds of this happening, first I had to miss the waist of my shorts then the knife had to magically open, then perfectly align to cut my foot. If I was 18 I'd buy a lottery with all my luck. On the bright side I have excuse to bum around binge watch TV and browse blade forums, so it's not that bad. Just as a last minute note I do NOT in any way shape or form blame Spyderco for this, I'm the idiot who dropped a knife on my foot.

She doesn't even look ashamed.

It's all fun and games until somebody gets a toe cut off. :D

Being in the resharp/repair of saw blades business, I've had my share of stitches as everything in our shop is either sharp or hot. Works out well sometimes because you can first dismember yourself and then cotterize the wound ;)

I'll throw this out there for anyone that wants to prepare for an ER stitching session: Ask the doc to drop a few shots of that numbing agent (novacaine?) into the open wound BEFORE they stick you, and then wait about a minute. That won't completely stop the pain from the pricks (pun intended) but it will make the worst part of the whole adventure much more tolerable.

Heal quickly man, looks like you've got a good attitude about it

That's a nice love story between you and the PM2. A damn walking boot for three stitches.

I've dropped knives before and my knee jerk reaction is to stick my foot out and try to protect it from the hard tile floor. I've got to stop doing that! Been lucky so far

It's a sad thing that my first thought was 'I hope the knife is ok'.

*SMH*

Get better soon man.

You're knife doesn't seem to be any worse for wear. :p

Those things unfortunately happen. One moment everything is right in the world and the next it gets turned upside down. Heal up fast.

Thanks for the kind words. The boot sucks, but at least it should keep me from tearing my tendon.

TIP UP!!!!!
Those tip down people are the kind of people you stay away from!!!
😇😇😇😬😬😬
