My Para 2 Betrayed Me (WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES)

Oh man, so sorry to hear about this. At least you have a "war" story now to tell with your Para 2! Seriously though, I'm glad the accident wasn't worse, and my best wishes for a very quick recovery!

I would like to start things of by saying if this is posted in the wrong place please move it. Anyway on to the story, yesterday I received my pm2 in the mail yesterday. I was in love, and I still am. I spent all day fondling it, smiling at how smoothly it glides shut. All was good until that night, I was doing the same thing I was doing all day, opening and closing it. I went to clip her to the inside of the waistband of of my athletic shorts. I somehow failed to properly clip it, and the knife fell down my shorts. During the fall the blade somehow opened up and landed just right, so that the edge fell dead on my foot, right on the tendon below my big toe.

Less than a minute after the accident, I'm pretty sure that white thing is my tendon.

My stepmom saw the wound and decided I needed sutures (she's an ER nurse). So then we went on a fun journey to the ER. After some checking in and basic info. I got myself a room. I got the cut looked at and if was determined I had 3mm cut on my tendon. They decided to take an X-Ray of my foot to make sure all was good. When the X-Ray came back it turns out all is good. Next up is the fun part

The cut at the hospital.

Now it was time for sutures, this was my first time getting them, but I think 17 years was a good stretch. First I got three shots inside the cut to numb the area for the sutures, that was by far the worst part. I'm not gonna lie those shots hurt quite a bit. However I was very grateful for them as it made the sutures go in very nicely. After that I even got a nice boot to wear around when walking, I think it's to keep the tendon from moving. I also get to go see a pediatrist sometime next week as a follow, I'll update you guys when that happens.

Three pretty blue sutures.

Das Boot.

To wrap things up, but learned a vital lesson, don't drop a knife on your foot. I think it's cool to think of about the odds of this happening, first I had to miss the waist of my shorts then the knife had to magically open, then perfectly align to cut my foot. If I was 18 I'd buy a lottery with all my luck. On the bright side I have excuse to bum around binge watch TV and browse blade forums, so it's not that bad. Just as a last minute note I do NOT in any way shape or form blame Spyderco for this, I'm the idiot who dropped a knife on my foot.

She doesn't even look ashamed.

You sir, deserve a medal.

I've been cut deep with mine twice, one in forearm and one tip of finger. The first time I cleaned the wound and held both sides together while applying super glue over the top (not in the wound!) and covering it with a sterile strip (actually a bandaid with the pad chopped off). Left it like that for 3 days and washed it off in shower. Next time it happened I went to emergency but it looked like an 8-hour wait so went back home and did the superglue thing again. Excellent results both times. Painless process treating wound. Those PM2s come sharp! Both times it wasn't the PM2 that betrayed me. It just did what it was supposed to do (cut) when both times my brain betrayed me.

Ouch! May you get well soon. My Para 2 has never bitten me before, now that you have bond of blood hold onto the knife forever or something.

Yes the blade ok that was my first thought. I'd rather not sharpen a chip out of s30v. I'm kinda glad it hit my foo instead of the ground. This way someone else does all the work to fix my mistake.

I once got my finger half cut off when one of my idiot friends was trying to take a blade out of my hands. 7 sutures, and the way the cut was oriented and the internal tearing it did ended up cutting off nerve feeling to the end of my finger. As a knife guy you would think this came from one of my many knives, probably with a mirror polished edge, right?

Nope. A dull pair of scissors. It was because of the obtuse, toothy edge that it did so much damage. You have to be careful with any type of blade.

S30V is easy to repair.

Based on the pics, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that your PM2 is a fake (clone). Real ones do not betray their owners. :D

Nope. Lesson is, carry sheepsfoot blades!
;)

That or get quicker reflexes. Being a fondler myself, I occasionally drop a knife and my wife likes to joke that in the time it takes for the knife to reach the floor I can get into another room.

While I may not be quite that quick, my feet certainly get the hell outa dodge. Now if I could get my fingers to do the same.... Ballisongs are mean.

OP: Do yourself a favor and keep that boot on. Save you a surgery later... after which you'll still be in a boot. Bleh!

You gotta milk that boot, man! Whenever a nice looking chick sees it, tell her you were saving a tiny kitten who was about to be sacrificed by a Satanic cult, and one of the cultists stabbed you in the foot with his ceremonial dagger while you were fighting your way through them to make you escape and get the innocent kitty to safety. You don't have to tell that exact story, of course, but it should be something equally heroic, and it should involve a cute animal of some type. :D:thumbup:
