If Buck would make this, I'd buy two! My perfect outdoor knife would be a full flat ground (hollow grind second choice) 119 blade shortened to 4.5" in length. The handle and everything else stays the same.

It would be a good all around knife, I think. I may have to settle for a 117.

How about something like this?

Mine would be a modified 103 or the 70's Akouna model 402. It had a 5" blade which is a good compromise for skinning and quartering. DM

I think you've got it, congratulations! I like seeing that 103 you re-did with stacked leather. Preston

Have you ever handled an old Schrade H-15? Similar to what you describe.

Big difference is a slightly convex Sabre grind. Works and splits wood well without being too thick for food prep.

The Selkirk leaves me cold. I want my Bucks to look like Bucks and bushcrafty woods knife in a thin Sabre or full flat and a 100 series black phenolic handle would have me

Isn't that the old Hunter's Pal or Hunter's Pride or something? It is close, but it is not a B.U.C.K.

Yeah, the Chinese made Selkirk is not a knife I want. It is heavy and it is made in China. (Taiwan would be okay, but this is made in mainland China)

I could be perfectly fine with my plain jane 119, it a great knife that just plain works.

If I was designing it however the handle would be more of a slim Western, KA-BAR...ect shape but I didn't design it and really can't complain about the knife as is.

If I had a belt grinder and all the right belt grits I could change the handle but I don't and the handle works well enough.
