Thanks.
Well, if you don't have any reptile stores, getting one from a chain is still an option. Just take them in for a vet visit after a couple of months and get him checked out.
Just make sure you feed it a lot, while it's growing. Mine was eating about 60 micro crickets twice a day, that's 120 crickets a day! What I did, is started breeding cockroaches. I know it sounds crazy, but you can get some that don't climb, I think they are the turkistan cockroaches, or something like that, do your research. I just kept them in a rubbermaid storage container and fed them cat food. They will take a month or two to really start breeding in good numbers, so you might want to start your roach colony before you get your beardie.
Best way to get a tank, Craigslist. Otherwise, there's not really anyway to get one cheap, even if you build it yourself, the material cost is going to be about the same anyway. You should try and find something that is at 3' x 3' minimum, 4' x 4' would be better, for one beardie. Of course you can start off small when you first get him, but in about a year, he will be full grown and need the larger tank.
Vet is another problem. I spent about 45 minutes yesterday trying to find a Herp vet in my area. I'll keep looking though.
I honestly think the fiancee would leave me the moment I brought up roach breeding.
I'll keep an eye out on craigslist. I have seen beardies with tanks in my papers classifieds too.
