Well, after I was not able to snag one of the esee pack kits, A member here offered to sell me one, but I decided to invest that money into something else.

Came home from school today, and I find this on my doorstep.

Hmm, what ever could it be?

What could be in the black bag of doom?

A new MSR Miox Water Purifier!!!!!

With my new toy, I decided to make a use of a cheap waist pack similer to the pack kit, and fill it with goodies to tide me over till the real one comes about.

Heres a pic of the pack and purifier.

Would add a small hank of paracord 12 - 15 ft and a bic lighter. I like the concept of a common man kit because cost shouldn't prohibit from being prepared, bushcrafting or just enjoying the outdoors. Well done man.

Good kit, I agree with you on the freezer bags, no sense in carrying a filter if you dont have a way to carry water. We can always add more gear to our kits but in my oppinion it always comes down to carrying a kit that matches your skill set

I miss kit threads as well. There are so many different ways to put kits together to cover the basic survival needs that I always get good ideas from people posting their kits.

Looks good!

You've come a long way. I've watched your gear selections mature over time. That looks like a well thought out kit.

I would say add some extra batteries for your torch, or a fenix headlamp strap, and clamp. Back up clorine tablets, maybe some sun screen .

Thanks man, coming from you, it means alot. I have come a long way from bashing cops, and batonning SAK's.

(btw that rucksack was the one I ruined. Had to pay to get it fixed, but learned a lesson.)

Hope to meet up with everyone this year at blade show.

I do plan on adding extra batterys for the photon and the MIOX.

Edit: just thought about what else my kit needs- an esee. I traded my esee-6 a while back and have regretted it ever since. Gotta start saving up again.

I love those Mentos gum containers. They are cheap and perfect for holding all sorts of items like tinder, .22 ammo, slingshot ammo, fishing kits, sewing/repair kits, etc.

Agreed, they are the perfect size.

Very nice kit and a great idea for someone on a budget. I'd like to see a review of the water filter too it looks like a great compact system
