My Possibly First Emerson

Just ordered a slightly used Commander from a forum member. Y'all are a bad influence.

I'm a big fan of the commander style knives! An m-come was my second Emerson and my most abused. I like how the commander manages to carry the majority of its spine thickness all the way to the tip, making it especially rugged. A full-size commander is on my short list of knives I want to acquire!

Picked up the CQC-7 Super. It's possibly the sharpest out of the box knife I've handled.

NICE!!! Yeah, Emerson's have been some of the sharpest factory edge I have seen/experienced. Congrats on picking up both!

I love mine, light, strong, I can sharpen it on a ceramic tea cup, and it's the knife I take with me when at the gym. Currently in my pocket as I speak at the gym.

Well, I'm back home and I have my Commander. It's nice. I used it, cut with it, and sharpened it. I can bring it back to a hair poping edge with only a few strokes on a stone.

Put my new Commander to the test again today. I am still new to the chisel edge thing, so I wanted to see just how it would hold up.
First, I cut 5 lbs. of potatoes. The edge help up well. I would stop occasionally, just to see how long it would take to bring that edge back to shaving status - not long, a few strokes on an India stone, and it was there.

Next, my wife asked me to open a few cans of cut string beans. The can opener is old, and it wouldn't cut the entire top loose, so I figured this was an opportunity to see how the edge would hold. Would the edge snap or would it round.

Afterwards, I brought the edge back, no chips on the edge, with a carborundum, India stone, and finally a steel.

Of course, I had to test the edge. Slicing paper was easy.

And what is a cutting test with out a flesh test?

Happy Easter ALL.

Another vote for the Commander. I love mine, chisel grind and all. Mine's stonewashed with no serrations. I use a Spyderco Sharpmaker and haven't had an issues in maintaining a razor sharp blade. Great knife! As far as the Super Commander, I don't have one; however I do have a Super CQC-8 which I love, but fair warning that it's a very large knife.
