My shotgun got confiscated

I was not being clear - I've never personally seen one of these in military service. Every one that I've ever come across was plain Jane, with the exception of a parked barrel instead of blued.

I have seen a few Benellis and such but they're by no means widespread.

To follow up- the shotguns my unit (A 1-5 Inf at Fort Lewis) got were as Satori said (plain Mossberg 500s). The armorer let me hang out in the armory whenever I had the time, so I helped him put folding stocks on them for squad leaders- and the stocks were Advanced Technology crap.

If you ever have heard that sound you know exactly what it means to be downrange of that shell being racked. The mossberg 500 series is a good value and quite reliable.

Use what you like- no problemo.

Personally, Benellis kick the crap out of me. I put close to 100 12 ga rounds downrange in one session, a few years ago, most of it from a Benelli. My right bicep swelled up to at least 2x the normal size! I looked like Popeye for a couple weeks.

Try putting the stock on your shoulder rather than on your bicep. I find it works MUCH better that way. :D :footinmou

For a match once I shot about 20 slugs in 70 seconds from my Benelli M1. Then I did it again 5 minutes later since I had to do a reshoot. I got a little shaky by then :D. It does kick a bit more than the gas guns, but my Benelli has never had a bobble of any kind. I count my lucky stars every time somebody talks about light loads not functioning it, since mine works with everything, even with a Surefire light frontend mounted.

I just set up to buy a Mossberg 590 for a truck gun. It is the 6-shot one, but only $200 so not too bad. I would like to have another Benelli to keep the operating methods the same, but I guess my $450 Benelli was one of a kind  I did shoot a ton of trap as a kid with a Winchester Defender, so I'm not too concerned about remembering to work the pump.

Well...after a bit of shooting this weekend I get my Mav 88 back since my wife hated shooting it with the pistol grip on and I have misplaced the stock after all these years of owning it  so...the g-store has a Nova tactical that I really like, the only s.g that I can close my eyes, shoulder it, open my eyes and sight right down perfect, they want $315...Big 5 has a sale this weekend and they have both the parkerized 870 which was $360(?) and Moss 500 both with extened tubes and last got the line on a 870 bling blinged out for $450 never been shot...choices choices

a pic of my ol'baby and her food

Now don't go an' think I'm prejudiced against her just cuz she's black, but...she sure could use a little more height. :D (AKA a full length stock)

I'm probably just jealous cuz I never could hit a darn thing with a pistol gripped shotgun myself. :D

Oh, and one more thing I forgot to add in my previous posts....Massad Ayoob "Advanced Combat Shotgun" tape. Lotsa helpful little hints there, even for us silly-vilians.

My own wife found that she gets along better with a 20 guage that has some weight to it. She used to shoot a Windchester Defender, but it's a bit much for her these days. (bad shoulders, wrist problems, etc.) Nowadays her favorite long gun is her Mini-14, although she'd like to trade it in on a .45 Long Colt lever action carbine some time in the next year or so.

In any case, good luck, and happy shopping!

Sweet, awesome photo, and if you run outta ammo, it's not for the lack of tryin'. That belt must weigh... but it should keep the gangstas away.

Umm, on a related note, I noticed that the commie SKS chest bandolier that came with my SKS is a perfect fit for 5-round boxes of slugs 'n buckshot. Can hold six loose, I think. Not for "combat" - but if you tote it along, you can have everything from birdshot to flechettes... and you won't lose a round, it has these little wooden buttons holding the pouches closed.

If you HAD to, you could wear it, but it looks like a man-bra to me, or something out of the movie "Platoon".

a man-bra?? hmm....ah have put on a few extra pounds this last winter....

"Hey? honey? how you think this looks? it's not too effeminite or nuthin, is it? what? why? you really think I should dye it pink? why fer? afterall, I was kinda wantin' a TACTICAL man-bra....kinda thought I should dye it black if anything....."

Try having a 12.5" LOP. Now, YOU find where to put the extra inches!

Spectre,
That is a short pull.
You must cut a lot of stocks.

I sure liked the photo of that belt. I wouldn't want to carry it, the belt, I mean.

Actually I hear he loans it to "FIDY CENT" for concerts. ;) Then again, maybe the REAL gangsters prefer platinum shells.

Thanks on the photo! I dont think I will be able to find those SKS chest bandos here due to the freedom loving Democrats making the SKS banned from law abiding legal peasants...I'll have to look for them when I hit the Reno show

Really? the SKS is banned there? Wow....that's seriously messed up! I'm truly sorry to hear of that situation. If the SKS is banned, then I'd guess Mini-14's, M1A, AK-47, FN-FAL,G-3, etc. go without saying?

Truly sorry to hear that. Glad you can still have a decent shotgun to protect you and yours.
