My survival sheath set up (pic heavy)

I got my first swamp rats in last week and have been working hard at making some sheaths for them. I haven't posted here in a while, but since I got the pics uploaded I figured I would share. The blades are a chopweiler and a swamp warded. I haven't had a chance to use the weiler yet, but I can tell you that thing is a BEAST.

The altoids tin is my least favorite piece and is pretty rough, but its functional and house a ton of items.

My firesteel has a hollow handle with some dryer lint and iodine tabs inside. I showed pics of this a while back, but I like the fact that I can use the warden as a necker and still have my firesteel.

Thanks for looking.

That's a "Bright" idea to use one of those key-chain maglights as a handle for your firesteel! Nice set-up.

Is that some kind of beef candy there? Sorry it stuck out. Good stuff you have there.

Thanks all, I have made several firesteels using spy capsules for the handle. I posted them a long while back and to me its a no brainer to have a little tinder with your firesteel. Light my fire should jump on that idea.

Beef bouillon cube, great for flavoring or a hot cup of broth and for maintaining salt intake.

cool bro, like the blades, but the hardware needs some trimming,I always put the screw or bolt head towards my body and washer/nut facing outward.

Thansk Tony and your are right on. I'm on the hunt for some nice black oxide hardware. The finishing details are still being worked on.

Some black allen bolts would be my choice.

Interesting to see someone carry stock cubes. I do that. They can cheer most things up a bit. I'm a fan of instant mashed spud for that too. At least you can thicken a broth up enough to need to scoop it rather than drink it. I find that takes a bit of the unpleasantness off, especially if it's one of those black murky brewed in a can over a fire concoctions.

Lots of good little ideas there, the little frog spear and mag light firesteel handle stick out to me as great ideas.

I have a swamp warden too, great neck knife.

Love the setup and as mentioned, some great ideas in your PSK! I need to try putting one of those firesteel's together...the striker in the cap is another great idea!

That looks awesome but my only concern is weight.....which may not matter depending on what the rig is attached to.

Thanks again all! This rig is HEAVY, but it depends on your steel preference. The chopweiler is a super beast and houses 85% of the weight. I went with the removable pieces and can attach either the Firesteel or the PSK to the necker if I was going on a short hike or fishing and leave the chopper in the car or at camp.

I'm personally not 100% sold on toting around a giant heavy knife and have found that a decent folding saw works better and faster, but doesn't have the wood splitting abilities. Next time I'm car camping I will compare my Axe vs. folding saw vs. chopweiler.

You sir are a jenious. the mag lite deal is awesome. and who cares if its heavy, you dont have an axe, so its not extra weight.

That is a nice set up you have there. I like the striker in the cap as well. I have done that on other little projects I have made. I even made that suggestion to RAT on their fire steel project but I don't think they are going to do it. Maybe your post will make them think twice about it.
