So I decide to combine 2 topics so as to not clog the list. First and foremost, here are my flippin sweet new Amboyna Burl Scales by Marathonman. This guy is AMAZING!!

These feel extremely good in hand. I can't wait to put them to use!

Secondly, here is my start to turning my recently acquired BK7 into a desert style knife. I have micarta handles (natural color) coming soon hopefully, and another set that I will dye OD Green for my BK9. Lots underway at JM Customs!

Those handles look great, I might have to ask him to make me a set..... that 7 will look awesome with the tan/ micarta!

HELL YEAH!!

I loves me some Becker moddin', and getting that 7 tuned up for some desert time, is gonna be a honey of a knife.

Can't wait to see it.

Thanks everyone! Once I get my sheath from a certain four-legged creature with antlers... the BK2 will be complete. I am thinking of a coyote tan kydex sheath for the 7, and maybe a black leather sheath for the 9.

Looks like its gonna be awesome.

Did you strip the blade first or just spray paint over the black?

Those scales are wicked! MArathonman is putting out some goodies for sure! I can't wait to see the finished '7!! Keep us posted!

Those of us with marathonman scales need to start our own club or something. We special, you see.

Nope, just sprayed it, which i believe is why I'm having my problem... the paint wont set up all the way. Its polyeurathane paint, after 2 days the paint still dents with a fingernail... I'm going to sand it and try a different paint, but if that doesn't work, then I'm screwed... its all the tan paint i found. Hope it works. Any suggestions?

I've used Duracoat many times on my rifles. You need an airbrush to apply it, but those are found for cheap. I was also told to "bake" the metal after the duracoat was applied by a gunsmith friend of mine. Since putting 30.06 metal with a fresh coat of paint into the family oven would have meant death, I had to find a friend who had an oven in his garage for heat treating.

I don't know if any of this helps, but it might be worth looking into. Just Google Duracoat.

Here's the rifle. It been through some major abuse and only has a few scratches from where I lost my footing coming down a rocky cliff. The branches don't affect it at all.

I think this is my first Becker post. I like this place.

thanks! and if I cant fix it here, I'll have to wait till I get home. No way to get duracoat or a spray gun over here.
