Here is my trio that I have worked out. I have another Koster's Bushcraft on the way (thicker handles) but the trio - I think is right for me.

These are a Gerber / Fiskars Medium Hand Axe, a Koster's 2nd Generation Bushcraft in 3V with Green Micarta handles, and a customized Farmer Alox in silver with a pocket clip.

Post your trio if you would like.

That is a solid set up. there isn't anything you couldn't handle with it.

Thanks fella's. The entire batch was likely 300 dollars total.

This could be had for less if you didn't have a Kydex sheath and a dangler system for your Kosters. I am wagering 250. Which is pretty good for a system to bank your life on I think.

My combo consists of the GB mini, Fallkniven H1 and Fallkniven TK3 folder.

These three continue to serve me well

Kind regards

SP,

Is that a Pocket Pal or a Special 20? Has to be Key of C right? I used to play in a band for a time - now I just guest now and then.

Also, is that Muskrat Man or a Bryan knife?

Pocket pal! I suck at the harp, but it's fun to play on for a novice none the less! That's sweet that you used to play in a band! I'd love to be better at that thing.

The knife is a brian andrews bushcrafter, thus far the best bushcraft knife I've ever used or handled. It's ridiculous. www.offthemapoutfitters.com

No pics currently, but mine is a cheap-o hatchet from Gander Mtn, SAK Tinker and my Mora from udtjim (I forget the model) Total cost to me: about $35

What do you like so much about it Spook? I still haven't handled a scandi other than a mora for just a bit. It's the one whole in my knife collection right now.

And, if I'm packing a trio it either: GB SFA, Krein Bushcraft, Leatherman Xti or Silkysaw SA 210, Breeden McBlackwood, and a Farmer.

Spooky,

Here is my brothers band:

Play the songs 'False Sense of Security' and 'Forgiven' that is me on the harp. It was simply set of songs - so I kept it simple. The recording is Indie and the compression can make it sound tinny... But you get the point.

If I may suggest - check out http://www.gindick.com/

Pick up one of his books (PM me for more if you wish) and you WILL be better. I learned on the pocket pal. If you can play one of those - you wait until you get a better harp - you will be GREAT!

The books are awesome and you don't have to learn scales. When I hear Les Stroud play - I think - THAT is the reason I play the harp. I promise - you can be as good as him.

Well, for me it's got a lot to do with my picky hands and the melty handle on that andrews. It's really perfect. Very, very hand filling in all the right places. No hot spots even after lots of carving. The blade is a great shape, with that constant gently curve. Gives it a good belly and excellent slicing ability. It's also the sharpest blade I own right now. But Sooooo comfy!!!

Wow, thanks for the info! And that's some sweet playing. I'll have to look into that book. I've never played instruments but the harp seems a lot more approachable to me for some reason. But not making others run screaming into the woods is a nice goal. :D Thanks agian-

This is the book I would start with. It is a bit cheesy - but stick with it - bring the harp and the CD in your car and jam along. I promise the stuff works.

By the way - I don't know Jon personally - I just learned from him and his Klutz press books about 13 years ago. It was fun!

Cool, that's the one I was looking at. Is even my harp ok to start with, or do i need to spend the scratch for the one he sells along with it?

No. You can use, in fact I would recommend the Pocket Pal.

If you are going to buy a new harp - I would suggest a Marine Band or a Special 20. These are very similar to the Pocket Pal - a little nicer - and under 20 dollars. You don't need a 30 - 150 dollar harp. Save that for when you are all professional and stuff! ;)

Just buy the Key of C (all of the CD's are written in the key of G so cross harp plays well with it).

THe pocket pal is harder to play - but you are learning - and when you can bend the 2 draw on a Pocket Pal - you can bend any not on any harp. In fact you will buy a nicer one and be like 'MAN is THAT easy!'.

I'm sooooo glad I opened this thread. I was communicating with a BF member a couple weeks ago about this very subject! Thanks! (Sorry about any thread drift).
