My Updated Forging Area

Very nice setup. I'm going to steel that forge design when I get ready to build so I can roll it out of the way when other projects need room.

Neat, clean and simple. Well done.

Rick-

I'm actually in the process of finishing up yet another forge. Those look like zoeller Z burners. are they?

Yes.... THEY ARE AWESOME.... they put out much more heat than my old Zoeler Modified Side Arm Burner.

:o that's slick. You can do everything in a one car bay working space?

Check it out!...

okay, works for me. I've been debating what to get. the dual manifold looks interesting too.

My current forge is nice, and I will keep it and give it a refurbish. I may take it from 3 burners down to two, using Z burners, and some better door contrictors. But the single burner I have almost done needs cement, a floor, a burner, and it's ready to go. And it has a nice stand welded up.

Justin.... the Allied site says that heater will continually heat past 150F up to boiling (212F) The auto shut-off only happens when it's dry. I wouldn't leave it unattended, bro.

I have used 2 and double checked them with a seperate TC, they will not boil water in my shop and under no circumstances will they heat water above 180 F. There is a sheathed thermocouple between the elements that turns it off pretty consistently at 165 F. At least this has been my experience. I actually had to take one apart and remove the on-board TC in order to heat my Parkerizing tank to 185, so this is not based just on casual observation.
At any rate when the oil is heating, the oven or the forge is going also, which means the shop is not left unattended anyway.

Do you get gassed out running the forge all day in that small of a space? Even at 2psi I would think things would get fumy real fast.

That sold me, Justin... I just ordered one... thanks!

Nope... see that big garage door?... even when I have it up a couple of inches it still provides adequate ventilation. Add to that, the window mounted fan (3speed, in and out settings) and I'm covered. I have 2 CO detectors in the garage... one on my side of the separator wall and one near the entrance to the house.

I still want to build a shop separate from the house... for safety sake.
