As i mentioned when i ordered the "Owl" it was because the Esquire was a bit to fiddly for my arthritic old fingers so in reply to SAK Guy who asked for an update and GronK who offered his thoughts, i have to say that i agree with GronK the pull is mild and i think the lack of a halfstop aids the easier opening and closing and it is just about as small as i would want to go for general everyday use , not to say that the Esquire or Peanut will not handle most tasks just that if your fingers are not as flexible as they once were a bigger knife is easier to hang on to. I suppose that before i got the Esquire the Swayback Jack was my main carry along with a Eureka Jack or a Peanut or three, but for this post i will keep it to a comparison between the "Owl" and the Swayback while i love the fit and finish of the Case it does not fit comfortably in the watch pocket of my jeans and although there is not that much difference in weight it is noticeable in my front pocket, while the GEC slips in to my left front pocket along with my handkerchief and i dont notice it at all. As other folk have said the Case knives are pretty but the GEC knives are more workmanlike. The one change i would make to my "Owl" is to turn the secondary blade from a spear to a coping blade. Here is a comparison photo, thanks for your patience.

I'm a big fan of the Owl for its size and lack of bulk whilst delivering very credible blade size. I have a Tidioute in Kryptonite and one in Ebony, both Clip and this one in Light Tan Bone (1 of 5, I believe) in their outstanding stainless. Fit & finish is exemplary on the acorn shield one. The Tidioutes are very good gap free but I did find the pen blades on them having sharp spines, not pleasant when gripping! But I stoned them and all is well. I particularly like the moderate but NOT sloppy pull with some satisfying snap too, a great combination. There appears to be no blade-rub on any of mine either, another mark of quality. I can recommend their Conductor pattern too, another compact but credible pattern.

Thank you OMR and Willgoy!!! I like this pattern but was worried it might be too small or too tough to pull for me. It stays on my list for now.

I like the White Owl. A slim and easy carry. While I like the pen secondary, I agree with oldmanrunning that a coping secondary would make for a nice combo.

Thanks for the write-up and review on your White Owl. This knife has kept my eye for quite awhile. May just have to try it sometime :)

My owl was purchased to replace a knife I loved but that had shallow nail nicks that had gotten irritating. It was probably one of the best purchases I have ever made knife or otherwise. I do wish the blade grind was just a touch thinner but it is not bad at all and is not something that affects its function.

Glad to see another owl convert and I am sure you will be happy as time goes by. I have an ebony owl that has 2 years under its belt and it has probably earned a permanent home in my pocket.

The GEC #68 White Owl has made my attention for almost some time. But I never got to buy it, though there are many out there. It seems to be a very popular pattern. I like the idea of carrying an equal-end shaped frame in my pocket. The #68 Pony Jack is also nice... For summer shorts a slim design would be better though - maybe I can sell the idea on this way to my Better Half ;) ;)

Honestly I almost thought about buying it for some time now and I think time will show up if I do or not :D

I like the #68 White Owl very much, it's nice in hand and pocket, I carry it often.

Normally I am a fan of both blades being on the same end. Due to the proud tangs on GEC knives I have started looking at blades on both ends. I really like my Radio knife, but in using it the proud tang can be annoying at times. I just recently got a GEC Esquire and it's nice not having a sharp corner underneath your finger while using it. This made me start looking at the White Owls.

I had a Pony Jack for a bit that I never really bonded with. I got this White Owl last week and really dig the slim/lightness of it in the same equal end pattern.

Good point, and another reason I personally prefer single-spring knives over Jacks, generally..:D
Here's the pile side of the Kryptonite Owl, I like this vivid acrylic a lot. Would be nice to see a Dead Skunk version of one, anybody ?? It's quite impressive the extent of the Owl range that GEC has offered: stainless, carbon, with bail without, bone, stag, wood, acrylics, maybe horn too.

That's one good lookin' White Owl. love that stag. I have a Plain Jane Tidioute WO in ebony and it's probably one of my most favorite knife patterns not in my EDC rotation. I like to carry either a clip or Wharncliffe and my WO is a spear. Got my eye on a WO clip Tidioute in bone and if I pull the trigger on it, the ebony will be on the trader. We'll see.

Personally, I think this is the most overlooked frame made by GEC.
The clip/pen jack combo doesn't suit this frame too much, and other blade configurations have yet to be seen.
No matter how much I love GEC's #15, I think that the single bladed spear, and the sheepsfoot/pen combo, would look even better on this equal end frame.
And I still think it would make an awesome 2014 BF knife ;)

The Order of the Owl.... making new converts every day. And much cooler than those wannabe Peanut cultists. :p

The Order of the Owl!! Now there is an idea ,especially from a flightless bird . On a serious note thanks to those who replied to my poor offering...

Owls fly. Amazingly quiet flight at that.

:friendly_wink: :p

But to stay on point here, I am a big fan of the WO. I have clip and spear in ebony and spear in autumn gold bone. The size, the pull, the blade choices all make this pattern one that will suit me for years to come, even when I grow tired of stiffer pulls and heavier knives.

It took me over 6 months of looking to find the right white owl. As soon as I saw this on the 'for sale' section I had to grab it!

One of the reasons I held off was due to the bail. I usually don't like moving parts hanging off a knife, but after about 6 to 7 different leather lanyards, ect. I finally decided on this one. When I use the pen blade I draw-cut with it, and the lanyard goes between my middle finger and forefinger.

The blades on the white owl are super thin! Compared to my spear- Charlow they seem like an Opinel!
