She just said to me "so you are done buying knives now right?" My reply was I only have 3 more knives to buy. A large and small cf inlay inkosi and a shirogorov. Dont worry they arnt that expensive.
She said "less than $1000 total?" I said "sure" :D:D:D

I would say "it cost $100", no matter what it cost. It became a joke because she knew they cost more than $100.
She bought me an Umnumzaan 12 years ago for my 50th birthday and for awhile she thought that was the most expensive knife I owned.
Thats hilarious! I'm wondering the kind of reaction I get when I buy my shiro.

Wife of 34 years knows better.

She knows the retributive questions that would follow:

"You sure that's not enough shoes?"

"What's wrong with the patio furniture we bought last year?"

"My truck is older than your car, why would we get you a new car instead of replacing my truck?"

"Don't you think we should do the holidays with my family for once?"

Lots easier for her to just hand me the packages from the porch with a polite smile.

My wife also quit being antagonistic a few years ago as I wasn't always up front with her anyway, you know, just to avoid the conversation.

Since I work @ home she's the one who gets the boxes from the PO. Last one she brought home she said "well, I hope it's pretty". She realized it wasn't going away so might as well get on board or we'd be picking on each other ad nauseum.

Her thing is health/dietary supplements, she gets a delivery once a month that equals a Hinderer or CRK, that's on top of any 'shopping' she might do.

Pot calling the kettle black get old.

Happily divorced for 4 and a half years. I collect other things besides knives. The ex hated that. Those model cars I post knives with? I used to have 50+. I only have 10 left because she (without telling me until after the fact) donated most of them to goodwill. Why? Because they were too "bachelor padish" and an adult man doesn't need those things. The only ones that survived are the ones I keep here at work (family business). Did the same thing with my collection of Lego Star Wars ships, though gave those to a teacher friend at a school for special needs.

The worst part, she for some reason thought I made more money than I did, and even though my bank account was separate, she managed to have all her bills bounce and I ended up in debt and selling a lot of knives to cover bills. These included a Strider SNG and Custom Brian Tighe mini Tighe Rod. Best flipper I've ever owned. Getting divorced was the best decision I've ever made.

I've slowly rebuilt my knife collection.

It took a while, but my wife has accepted the fact that nice knives are like nice firearms...money in the bank. Of course there’s money lost when selling, but they still have value.

I always say...
Hey its not Crack !

Like every one else has said, she has her own things that cost money.
She accepts it for what it is.

Better than my Collecting tarantulas phase I went through lol

We were married for 25 but I haven't had a "wife" in 23 years (our 48th anniversary will be on April 7th) .

I've had a LT GF for over 12 years (who I only see on weekends) and, since we are NOT married, we respect each other's independence and do NOT share our finances. She spends her money her way and I spend my $ mine.

We both like it better that way and life has NEVER been better. :)

OBTW, she owns over $2M in residential real estate and gets a bigger monthly pension than I do but, then again, I have way more cash on hand and she has much greater expenses than I do too. So, it all balances out in the end. ;)
