My wife is hilarious.

The way I do it is since my wife is retired I deposit $$$ into her own checking account with every check. That way she can buy what she wants without me asking. The good thing is she can also not question what I'm buying :)

Thats too funny! I've been lucky since my now wife bought me a CRK large 21 and a small inlaid inkosi a few years ago (before we were engaged).

I've been on a RHK kick since November and involved her in it. She was carrying my first XM18 3.5" when I surprised her with it purpled out for her (all TI hardware and scale) since "its cute". First time she was consistently carrying a knife, but said it was a tad too big. So...I found a 3" XM-18 and got a pink & purple scale for her....I just so happen to find a matching OD green twin to it for myself. I would love to get her a CRK, but she just doesn't have the dexterity to run a thumbstud vs a flipper.

I've been dropping hints to her of wanting (2) more CRKs an Umnumzaan DP and Insingo 31 (when it is released) and a Shiro. She just rolls her eyes and asks "How much?" and I reply with...you don't wanna know.

Pic is of the RHK kick since November. Started off with (2) I had for years and it quickly spiraled out of control to what you see. Her EDC is now the Pink 3" but she started off with the purple 3.5". My RHK EDC is the micarta with the green TI hardware along with a CRK small micarta inkosi insingo.

I've spent real money on knives, but those days are over. I sold more knives than I kept and now I have left are users, sentimental pieces and knives with insignificant market value. So when a knife arrives in the mail, I show it to my wife and she's happy that I have something that I enjoy. After all, I spend less than $50 on a toy twice a year.

A while back, a very kind BF member sent me an Inkosi Insingo to try out for a few weeks.

My wife and I were out on the front porch talking when I told her a knife was coming in the mail.

“You spent $375 dollars on a knife!”, my wife said with a heated tone in her voice.

I very quickly backpedaled for no real reason as I explained the knife was on loan. Fortunately for me, I did not bring up her new car in the discussion.

I will never understand those that admit to spending a different amount than actually spent.

Mine isn't exactly happy when I buy new knife, but also gets that it's something I treat myself to occasionally when I work a lot of OT. All my purchases last year (a few ZTs, a Benchmade, and couple other lesser knives) would probably add up to one Shirogorov 111... or a little less than my average gross OT every week last year.

Beautiful collection.

The only thing that matters to my wife is that I shop around for the best price on whatever it is that I buy & I don't buy something at a time when we might need the money for something else.
Right now is one of those "bad times".
She just returned from one of the rentals & from the sounds of it, we're looking at an easy $1k to $1.4k in unexpected plumbing costs.

Early on the wife complained to her mother about my knife collecting. The mother-in-law told her not to worry, that it was a good thing; that as long as I was putting my money into knives, it was a safe bet that I wasn’t collecting blondes, brunettes and redheads....

I must be lucky as my wife doesn't ever ask. She knows I enjoy knives and just let's me enjoy it. Other things she may question but never my knives. She gets to enjoy her shoes and clothes in return. Life is too short to his what you love.

My wife knows what I buy, and how much I spend.

He once got upset because I traded a gun for knives. ( an unused Busse FBMLE, and a custom made knife). She was worried the maker would not send his end of the trade.

He did.

She is understanding of my obsession. She was even a good enough sport to go to Blade Show west with me, and she made me buy a few cusrom knives.

Shs also bought me a forge, encouraged me to get a knife grinder, anvil, etc.

I don't spent money i
I don't have, and I occasionally sell knives to fund new purchases.

38 yrs and she's a good one. We have our own money; we agreed to get an equal monthly allowance,
and we can use it however we wish... It's enough to keep me happy, and I can always sell other "stuff"
if I need more dollars for more knives...
I don't go nuts over more knives any more...had so many and kept some nice ones; pretty happy.

I am fortunate that my wife is also into blades. I'm a little jealous of some of the things she's accumulated over the years (It'll be 15 years in April.)
I wish my wife was a knife person, but she won’t even let me buy her a pink mini Griptilian. :(

Here's my "Wife" story:
We went to an Astros game several years ago, before garbage can banging, and workers were wanding everyone, and looking in purses for knives. I had a choice to dump my SAK Classic SD, or walk almost a mile round-trip back to the car to leave it there. I walked. She got passed through, and was waiting for me inside, laughing her head off when I showed up again. She had a Chive, a Classic SD, and a SOG Micron all in her purse. We know who the potential terrorist is now.

Mine is a user. Winter works at our place last weekend:

My Wife and me do something very similar. We both have a His account, Her account and our account. We both get an allowance every payday to spend as we see fit. Neither of us is allowed to badmouth what ever the other spends their allowance on. It makes life much easier.
