My Wife Just Doesn't Understand

i don't get r-ships where one person has to get permission from what seems to be "the decider"

too often i hear phrases like "if she finds out i bought..." or "she won't let me..." and less rarely "he won't let me"... just doesn't seem healthy.

my hobby, my money, my rules, eh? i would never deign to tell someone what to do with their resources. doesn't matter if i don't understand, it's not my call.

course, i seem to be unreasonably reasonable that way :D i know others aren't so lucky...

I'm with you. It doesn't seem healthy to have to justify spending your own money unless you are spending crazy amounts of money. I don't get why some men let their girlfriends or wives make decisions for them.....being 'the decider'. The whole 'balls in her purse' thing doesn't seem like a normal, healthy relationship. It is give and take and you are equals, you don't have to answer or have control over each other.

Its not that I'm spending a ton of money. you know 150 bucks a month is nothing.

we have our joint account and then we have our separate spending accounts we have setup that put away a certain amount each check.

she thinks that by me spending money on knives and knife accessories I'm not thinking of our child, our child to be and everything we need to do get ready for our newborn. yet she goes and drops 100 bones on a new baby bag when we already own 3, but that's for our Family and not for me an individual.

I'll just face it. Women and Men have different tastes...

It's just as important to have a savings fund for the children as well. We have our joint account, our individual allowance accounts, and the children have savings accounts. Whew, this is why you can never have enough money, hehe.

My wife has imposed a "knife allowance", much like children get when they haven't reached adulthood. :o

I'm not complaining though.

So ... she makes all the money and is giving you some ... Cool. You're stylin'.
No worries. Life is good ...

(chuckle)

She actually does make more than me, she is a govt contractor, and I'm a licensed optician. We do alright, but I'm living in Southern California where the cost of living is insane.

Maybe you didn't pick up my sacasm. (maybe you did)

Sorry brother, I just have a problem with someone giving me an "allowance" with my own money.

But - no worries. To each his/her own.

as do we, but she thinks I'm wasting money on pointless objects instead of buying objects for a greater purpose.

she'll get over it

I hear ya, no problems here.;)

FWIW, we share "the pants"

:)

My bad. I shouldn't have said anything. None of my business. Sorry.

Hey you get an NRA sticker, collect knives and live in So Cali - you can't be all bad - just gotta' "man you up a little" (JUST KIDDING !) Chuckle

Allowance? Is that the same thing as a budget? I have my girlfriend put me on a budget. Helps me keep things in order and accountable since I can't seem to do it myself. I'm more financially stable than when I was single so its working out for me :). I must admit I have a misc/entertainment budget. Keeps me out of the red. So more power to you 5.56

the entire point of having separate accounts, is that they are for whatever... except for review by the other party.

new baby bag? i hope she bought a second hand one ;) think of the carbon costs! jeebus. you might have to teach her about hoarding and collecting. well, unless she bought it with her own money.

remember, a vasectomy is an outpatient procedure, and you can spent cash on that :)

My wife is a city girl. She knew about my addiction shortly after we started dating, but never questioned it. I'm sure now she still doesn't understand it, but she said once to me that I don't hang out in bars spending money on booze scoping out other chicks so if that's what I like then so be it.

Mate Im right there with you, why god didnt make women with an instruction manual is beyond me, I just dont understand them sometimes. They can spend a whole day looking at clothes and crap in shops buying shit they hardly wear, gossiping about stuff, reading magazines about celebrities, spending hours on their hair and makeup and they think were crazy? the stuff they do is crazy to me. My missus is coming round to the whole knife and gun thing finally, It makes me happy and its not as expensive as some past times out there, whats a few knives a year and some ammo compared to car and boat nutts and what they spend? Also whenever she wants anything cut Im right there with a load of knives for the job, I dont watch porn I look at post your knives threads on this fine forum, maybe I am crazy?

I've always been into knives, guns and the outdoors. My wife was a prissy ass "girly girl" when I met her, now, she's not.

This is her using my BK2 for a fire making competition.

This is her batoning a BK3 in a wood batoning competition.

These are the blisters from competing in 4 events back to back. She didn't win any of them. But, she knows she can have any knife she wants, she just wanted to beat someone's ass to get it. Eh, what can you do.

When we got married, she had to come to grips with my addiction. She also had to come to grips with my behavioral swings every 28 days. No, wait that was her.

Either way, I have a family and responsiblities, I have to make my play money, so as not to take away from my families needs. My kids need much, my wife doesn't really spend much money on anything, and me, well, I'm the spender is this house.
