MYB DECEMBER: Rolling into the 2nd Month of the Spartans! Now with EXTRA challenge!

A pretty normal week for me.

My normal commute (2.4 miles total) 5 times, then futsal on Friday night, and a ride on Saturday. However, I wasn't feeling well on Saturday, and only rode 10 miles, instead of my normal 17.6 mile loop.

((2.4*5 ) + 10)/3 + 4 = 11.33 BP for the week. Not great, but not altogether bad either.

Monthly Total: 11.33 BP

I just now realized I haven't updated this since the 8th. After the fact is never as easy to remember. Also, I don't count/measure my normal walking or other stuff

Week of 11/9 - 11/15: 5 commutes * 2.4 + one weekend bike ride, but it was shorter than normal, at about 12 miles. = 8BP
Week of 11/16 - 11/22: Left work early for a "pre thanksgiving" trip to visit family. Only had two days at the office. 2.4 * 2 + a 2 mile walk on Thursday + 3 mile walk on Sunday = 6.6BP
Week of 11/23 - 11/29: Thanksgiving week, but back in town. 2* 2.4 mile commute + 2.4 mile walk + 12.3 mile weekend ride = 8.1BP
11/30: No futsal, but my normal commute. = .8BP

11.33 + 8BP + 6.6BP + 8.1BP + .8BP = 34.83BP

Looks like I fell a bit short for this month. I'm sure I got a bit more, but don't want to track something I couldn't really measure :p.

Perhaps next month will be better.

The upside is I weighed myself at my inlaws house (we don't own a scale), and I'm actually 4lbs down on my weight last year (199lb in full jeans, socks, long sleeve shirt, belt, phone, knife, etc).

EDIT:

I remembered after I did this that the week of the 12th, I also did 16 miles of additional commuting on my bike (dentist, podiatrist). So I'm adding in 5.33 BP.

Monthly Total: 40.1633 BP

Normal weather for a 33 mile ride, so.....37°F. Cold. Still, had the avg. HR up to 161 for an hour and a half or so. I guess this'll be it for November....think I'm just gonna roll this thread into a new one with a title change for ease of use.

11+78.2=89.2 BP for November.

Jumped the gun there, a bit.....I was thinking yesterday was the last day of the month. Busted out a 4 mile walk this evening. Took the long way 'round to the library to take some CD's back.

so....4+89.2=93.2 For the month.

Since crimsonfalcon is doing his Spartan GAW based partly on this thread, I'm just going to change the title tomorrow and leave this open through December. To all those who participated this month: ATTABOY/ATTAGIRL!

Mon-Thur normal commute, and then I rode another 8 miles on wednesday night going to an activity with the youth at church.

2.4*3 + 8 = 5.067 BP

Bi-Monthly Total: 45.2303

Too many decimal places - especially since the points don't really count (well, maybe this month, a little). Please round up (or down, or do some of each from post to post) to the nearest tenth. All those numbers are hurting my brain.

Just kidding of course. I usually err on the side of....error.

Wait, you want me to LOSE PRECISION!?!?!???!?!???

Whoa.

Sorry, side effect of coursework and current employment, we like to use what we call "all the decimals" :p.

I'll try to reign things in from here on out. I wouldn't want to hurt the brains of unsuspecting forumites who open this thread.

Thursday: Normal 2.4 mile commute
Friday: Normal commute plus I finally got to play futsal again (~4 miles of "on your feet")
Saturday: 4.8 miles of bike riding (sore from Futsal).

3.2 BP from riding, and 4 from futsal.

Bi-Monthly Total: 52.4 BP

I'm finally up to what I should have been last Month, and it only took me another week... that doesn't bode well for this month.

Went for a 31 mile ride yesterday. Hopefully not the last of this month as the cold settles in. Tho I'm in Boston today and it's a balmy 55F right now. Strange.

Dragged my a$$ out on the bike for a 30+ mile ride. Was waiting for it to warm up a bit.....it never did. Killer headwind, too, going northbound - could only muster 12-13 mph on the flat road along Long Sands in York, ME. Only managed a pitiful 16 mph average - which is WAY below what I can usually do, even if I'm tired. Today is really the only day of the week that I can do a long ride, and I really didn't want to go. It's gray and cold out.....but, I guess I'm, uh....not unhappy that I went. Worth it also as I saw a belted kingfisher; I guess they don't travel south for the winter if they can be near open water. That was pretty cool.

Stupid nice weather here today - almost 60*F - that I had to go for a ride (after waiting for the roads to dry out a bit). Windy as all get out.....but westerly so mostly crosswinds. Managed over 19mph for the first 29 miles....the last 4 were hell, straight into 20 - 30 kt. gale. Still finished at 18.8 avg. Far cry from the last ride  33 miles.

Wow, Again, haven't updated in a while.

Tue- Fri last week I did my normal commute once a day. Friday I also played futsal. Both of my big toenails died :/.

Saturday I ended up riding into work twice (not related, had to use the laser engraver to work on some christmas gifts).

Monday I did my normal commute, and did futsal again.

Today its just the commute, and I did a mile walking this morning with my wife.

2.4miles * 8 trips + 8 miles of Futsal + 1.5 miles of on the walk this morning.

52.4 + 15.9 = 68.3BP

Bi-Monthly Total = 68.3 BP

And Granite, nice work on those rides. I haven't been able to get out for my normal weekend rides lately :(. The weathers been fine, just busy with life (mostly making christmas gifts). But I hear you on the wind. Where I live we get coastal winds every day. Most of my rides after a certain time of day put me straight into a 15-35mph headwind for most of the ride. They're brutal, and actually, the reason I ride the direction I do. I chose to be punished while I'm fresh, then get to ride the breeze back in (ideally. Other times it seems to go against me both ways :/).

And you're doing amazing. You're kicking me around in the BP arena right now :).

Thanks....but it doesn't seem like I'm doing much, getting out only for a ride or two a week.
As for the wind....yeah, I've had those days that no matter which direction I go it's a headwind. If I'm riding the NH coast loop, I'll try and make sure I'm out by the water on the downwind leg, then ride more inland on the upwind part. Hard to tell, some days....like today. I guess once fall rolls around, I should always be riding north into ME, 'cause the wind ALWAYS seems to be blowing out of the north come September. Don't always want to go that route, though. Not as many loop options to adjust distance, and it's hillier, too.

On another note, ice skated for an hour this evening at this place: Puddle Dock Pond at Strawbery Banke. Tuesday evenings are free (if you have your own skates) and the ice was, surprisingly, OK despite the rain last night and the temps of 60°F today (outdoor rink) - though I did sweat quite a bit.

Not so nice weather today, at least temp-wise....damned cold, actually. Had to cut it a little short - which I shoulda done sooner than I did. Hard to brake or shift gears when your fingers are frozen. 29 miles.

Putting this in here: Swam today for the first time in too long. Doesn't bode well for push-ups. Managed 1600m, but it wasn't pretty.
