MYB October: If you think earning points is hard, try making up a good thread title

+1 for yesterday makes 13

Baby up all night makes for 0 points this morning :(

So apparently the wife changed the settings on the treadmill without telling me months ago. I've been doing 3.6 miles instead of 3.6km :D

That would change my total (adding in today's workout) to 26bp's

That's the good kind of mistake I guess, good on ya for doing more than you thought you were doing.

Thanks brother! It also makes my goals a bit closer too :D I want to eventually work up to 5miles / day. Since the time that I have in the morning is always the same, I'll have to up the intensity! The journey continues!

Lets see, since Saturdays ride, I've done all right.

Sunday: Day of rest
Monday: Family was still in town on Monday night, so I missed my normal Futsal, and additionally I took that day off of work, so I missed that days bike ride.
Tuesday: 2.4 mile commute
Wednesday: 2.4 mile commute + 12 mile round trip ride to a youth activity (I help with the churches youth group).

== total of 16.8 miles of cycling since my last post, which is another additional 5.6 BP.

Monthly Total: 32.44 BP

Hopefully futsal will happen as normal tomorrow, and I'll get back into the swing of things again.

And if anyone is interested, the 12 mile ride last night was in total darkness (paved path through trees with no lighting) for at least half of it (the rest had intermittent street lights). The new light (Fenix BC30R) worked just fine. It for sure is more of a floody headlight, but it does make sure you see everything within a few feet of the front tire (left and right), and I'd say I'm getting a decent beam out to at least 50yds (total guess) on the flats. I was comfortably riding at my normal speed (~17-19mph) on high (800 lumens). I tried medium (500 lumens), and that worked "fine". I do feel that I would be more comfortable with another light throwing a bit more, at about the same brightness.

TLDR: So far I feel that if you're looking for lights to ride in total darkness, at speeds of up to or over 20mph, I'd shoot for a total of 1000-2000 lumens, in some combination of flood and throw, depending on terrain, and how well you know the area. You can get away with less, but thats what I'd call "comfortable".

Aight. 30 miles today, but all this talk about getting out of one's comfort zone had me headed for the hills of Coastal Maine (which is about a mile and a half from my house) instead of the flatness of the NH coast. LOTS more ups and downs, with a couple short (very short) climbs at pitches up to 14°. Breaks up the rhythm of steamrolling the flats. Plus, not one single driver honked at me or got too close to me.....'twas nice, and it's a perfect day here today.

11+10=21 BP.

Forgive me, fellow MYB-ers, for I have sinned. It has been 8 days since I last exercised (unless you count hiking through the woods multiple times at trailbum's place last weekend ;)); I missed a ride Tuesday due to inclement weather. Got home a tad earlier than usual today and went for a little local trail ride (mostly cinder track access road on a defunct railroad bed) on my cyclocross bike. Only 10 miles, but I got the ol' ticker up to operating temperature at least. 45 min, avg HR: 152 bpm. Gonna have to get the light set up on that bike so I can stay out a little longer next time.

21+5=26 BP for the month.

Hiking through the woods counts plenty! If even it's just back to the car for more beer...

2.5 miles walk last night.
1 mile tonight.
33.5 BPs TTD.

+3.5 on the 15th and 3.5 on the 16th = 33

Just for grins - and also because I'm not seeming to get out as much as I hoped - I g-map pedometered the route thru the woods at trailbums house....and it's a ~ a quarter mile, one way. Yesterday I mowed the lawn; I have a couple steep hills I push the mower up (and down) and I always work up a sweat in the ~45 min it takes to do the job. I think I need to get a fitbit or similar - though I do need to concentrate on making an effort to do dedicated exercise, as "life sports" are not keeping me fit the way I'd like to be. Anyway....hoping to get out for a ride today after it warms up a bit (~35° atm). Carry on.

Sadly I jacked up my shoulder yesterday during my little ride, it was wet and while crossing an old rubber-covered railroad crossing I managed to hit the rail at an angle, causing my slicks to slide out and me to go down. While going down my shoulder popped out, when I hit it went back in (not serious as it sounds) but it did dent the nerve a bit, so today it's pretty sore.

This means my push-up regime will have to wait a little while, just as I was about to get started :p

That sucks. I hope it feels better soon.

Just got back from a nice (but cold and windy) 35 mile road ride. Took me a while to dig out my winter gear.....every year the cold weather comes quickly and I'm thrown off making the transition. Still, worth digging through the winter cycling bin to get out. A least the sun was out - even if it was only 40°F.

11.6+26=37.6 BP

I haven't figured out how to translate my current regimen into points...20 hill sprints ( :/ ), 5x5 heavy deadlifts, double kettlebell squats (2 50's) and 70 lb kettlebell presses, and turkish getups...it dinna translate but it does hurt

This post made MY body hurt......

I think you need to resurrect the weights/lifting thread, Jim. Hasn't been seen for a while.

2 mile walk today with my 25lbs toddler strapped to my back = 35

+3 for my run on the treadmill this morning = 38

Weight training! Now start running with him and you'll be ready for a GoRuck by spring!

I jogged for a little bit and he love it. Was playing with the kids the other day, wife took a video of me doing push-ups with all 3 of my little's sitting on my back (combined weight of around 100lbs lol) I was able to squeeze out 5 in a row lol. Progress!

Previous Monthly Total: 32.44 BP

Thursday: Normal commute (2.4 Miles)
Friday: Commute + 1.5 hrs of Futsal
Saturday: 17.5 mile normal loop (slight detour due to a concert at a park I ride through) + 3 mile round trip ride to the barber (I was looking like a wooly mammoth).
Sunday: Day of rest.
Monday: commute to work, but I didn't get to play futsal today... too busy with other things :(.

((2.4*3) + (17.5+3))/3 = 9.333 BP from cycling
+ 4 BP for the ~4 miles of running from futsal

Monthly Total: 45.67 BP
