Big time stuff here. From design to size, it's my favorite utility piece. Big time. And in the D2 material, unmarked, it will actually get used.

I agree. I have a D3V on order but I can't stop thinking that the D2 version may be better for my short backpacking trips and game prep.

I know the list is long, but I would also love to score a light or medium chopper, but with limited funds, I have to pick one for now. I guess the outcome Friday will determine if a D2 is in the cards or a future LC/MC. :)

Nathan, your work has been on the knife enthusiasts' radar for quite a while but your really blossomed into BFC stardom for about a year and half / two years know from the advent of LC, FK (this one's been around for longer than a couple of years) and EDC. Prior to that your Skinner, Utility Fighter, Shiv, Dagger (very limited quantities in the wild) and the kitchen knife were more of a specialty and niche market products.

Now let me segue into this HDFK: I think that you will have a MONSTER hit on your hands with this pattern which will make you and yours into superstars. You seem to be very humble and do not necessarily bask in your own glory; in fact accolades may make you somewhat uncomfortable. That said, you took a great risk by investing and sinking a pile of $$$$$ into new equipment and workforce expansion because once this pattern is released, there will be an onslaught of new CPK'ers. Heavens forbid if this thing gets into the hands of some professional You Tube reviewers (we know who but won't name names) and you will literally have knife folks breaking your workshop's doors down asking for thousands of these!

This pattern looks incredible so thank you for the opportunity of giving us the preorder route and the fact that you got this done from bell to bell in what, 8-9 months, is an incredible accomplishment onto itself. So glad that I, we, found you and yours.

The way the fronts of the scales are contoured, it looks like a guy could really wrap up on that choil.

With every new leak of info about the NASK <HDFK> I get more AMPED over my pre-order....

But I gotta disagree with Casinostocks Casinostocks on one "little" ;) point... this ain't no MONSTER hit >>>> it's a GODZILLA, TOKYO-ANNIHILATION EXTINCTION LEVEL EVENT!!!! :eek::eek::eek:

The only question in my mind: Do I trade one of my D3V preorders for one of these "competition finish" <sorry, my BUSSE-itits flares up when I'm excited ;)> D2 protos?

That's not just any average weeble wobble knife, it's a Carothers Performance Knife...

Truth be told: I'm already committed to helping out some friends who won't be able to make it to this sale and hope that I make them proud, but when I saw the actual visuals of the HDFK-D2, I did exalt: "DAYUM!!! ... I wish I had kept my options open"... But no, I'm a creature of my word so I'm totally focused on landing 1-2 punches for my promises.

That said, since everything is still FCFS, I would not blame anyone for wanting to score a rare CPK to add it to his/her own herd. After all who knows? Nathan and Jo may wake up one day and decide that they're done with making knives and it's their calling to pack up the kids and the dogs to go play with herds of zebras in Serengeti!

Well that is true. There's going to be extra cost involved for the end users requesting proxies now, so hopefully we would not see that happen.

I still don't know if I'm getting sent out tomorrow, but if I'm home I'm going to play.
