Yes, Antler can be scraped with a sharp knife, I use strokes with the cutting edge perpendicular to the material, and thin slices peel off...as the steel burrs and rolls, I will alternate the direction of the scraping strokes. Working antler is tedious hard work...a wood rasp can be used also.

Beautiful. I love stag handles; that used to be all I would collect, but at the time stag was expensive and hard to find in Trappers.

The thing I really like about the Deerslayer is, I can't tell if it was made yesterday or yesteryear. That's not easy to do.

It looks like it was found in an attic,stored away many decades ago.
Great job on that one sitflyer,the other half of the battle is having the skills & boy you got 'em.:cool:
 
Fantastic work. I have never heard of whittling antler with a pocket knife. Very interesting.

I really look forward to seeing the progress on the Chef's Knife.

Thanks, I got side tracked with a Puukko project, now I need to rest my shoulder for a couple days...chefs knife will be next:)
