Hi there!

So, I've been going wild with the knives lately.

It started with some <100$ cold steels
Then I bought some spydercos
Then I bought a benchmade

Then in February, I bought my first CRK: a large plain drop point Inkosi. Made my previous purchases a collective joke!

2 weeks ago I bought the umnumzaan. Very nice as well!

During all this, I've noticed that ball bearing flipper knives are all the rage these days. I'd like to grab a nice one and hop on the flipper bandwagon.

The only flipper knife I own is a BEAT TO HELL CRKT I EDC'd probably 15 years ago.
I've gotta say, that knife has held up quite well for a cheap beater. I require better quality then anything that company makes now

I've noticed those from zero tolerance are extremely popular, but I've gone through what's available from them, and I honestly don't care for most of the designs.
I don't like the looks of the popular hinderer. While I'm sure the knife is grand, I need the knife to be aesthetically pleasing to myself to justify paying the money.
I kinda like the 0450 and 0460 designs, but I'm looking for something....more....for my first quality flipper.

-It has to be titanium handled: one solid piece or dual slabs: it doesn't matter.
-The higher quality stainless steel, the better.
-Must have great fit and finish
-Must be made in USA
-I prefer no wacky colors or anodizing. If it does have anodizing, it isn't the end of the world as I can remove if needed(like I did with my inkosi thumbstuds)
-The blade needs to be over 3 inches. I prefer something between 3.5-4". If I find something AMAZING that's a little shorter, I suppose there is wiggle room.
-I'm looking for something around the 300$-500$ price range, that is worthy of the price. No Shiros for me, for now

The one interesting me most atm is the Reate Torrent. Titanium framelock, with m390 steel, and looks awesome. I've never heard of this maker until last night, but from what I've read, they make pretty good stuff!

However, before I drop 350 on this baby, I wanted to ask YOU EXPERTS first. I only have about a dozen good knives at this point, and I know some of you have huge collections, with far greater experience and knowledge then I do.
I'm worried I will buy this Reate torrent, get it in my hand, and 2 days later find something that makes me say to myself "dang! Wish I found that earlier!!"

If you could just drop some names down below, I'd love to check them out! If you have any pictures to go along, that'd be great too

Thank you so very much! Sorry for the long post: I wanted my first one to be a good one, before I slip back into the shadows to lurk

Rethink that decision. Reate and WE are as high quality as you can get with a titanium flipper right now.
I mean tbh, it did have me fooled.

Just tell me this: does it have CHINA stamped anywhere on the item whatsoever? Of the knife is really good, perhaps I can let its origins PASS as long as I don't have to read it

I dont think my We's do actually. So you might be fine. Dont let the older crowd here fool ya, china is making some top quality knives these days.
I'm right on the borderline of being "older crowd", so when I hear China in relation to knives, it gives me migraines lol

I never would've imagined a chinese production knife selling for 350$!!
I seen all the Kizers on Amazon, which are in the 150-200ish range, and even that surprised the hell outta me

I hear both WE and Reate are incredibly high quality. But Made in USA was one of the OP's criteria. I, myself, am rethinking Chinese made products... especially knives, where I want to love everything about it.

Man....it sucks that it isn't made in USA..

In all honestly I think I will pass on that and keep looking. I believe you that it is top quality, but I'm certain I can find a similar American made, or other reputable country blade of similar quality for around the same price range.

If not, I suppose I'll just grab a micarta Sebenza 21 and round out my Reeves startup trio (sebenza 21, inkosi, umnumzaan)

Thanks for the heads up on that one guys

If you dont HAVE to spend $300+, then you may be able to get your hands on a ZT 0452TI.
Ahhh, another sinkevich! I was looking at two other ones, but they have shorter blades. This one is nice.

The ti version is sold out on bladehq, so I'll have to check elsewhere.

Any other ideas would be awesome

For under 500 and US made is gonna be olamic, Hinderer, ZT.

If you step up a couple hundred and look used, you are in shirogorov territory... Russia made, but is the premier flipper and makes my other flippers feel clunky.

I was peepin the shiros. They look and sound amazing, but man they are up there in price

Maybe if we get covid-19 stimulus checks, MAYBE I'll attempt to find one

This is why I made this thread ;)
