Name the knife

1, I'd call it Cumberland Gap

2, The Cumberland Gap lies between VA and KY.

3, I like everything about it. A drop-point or a deeper clip-point would be more my thing but I could use the snot out of that one.

Thanks for the chance.

"Barracuda Buckeye" I dunno why, but my first thought when I looked at it was a shark. It looks incredibly comfortable though! Some gorgeous burl looking handles!

Hey, cool idea for a thread. Please count me in for this! What do you think of "Deer Camp Poker", or "DCP". This knife looks like it would be a great hunting/utility knife and be a perfect camping knife. Beautiful work on that.

Stogie

The handle looks like one.

Not an entry because I am not a regular here and I won a JK tin knife just last year.

I would call that knife the "Buckeye Flat", after one of my favorite camping spots in the Sierras, (Buckeye Flats). That would be a very appropriate knife to use at that campground, there are Buckeyes all along the trout stream there.

Thanks for all the great ideas so far everyone. The "distinguished judges"(my wife and son) are going to have a tough decision when the time comes.

The JK Dominion, or the JK Old Dominion if you prefer.
Otherwise simply known as the Dominion.

Oops ! According to the rules of this contest - I haven't provided a reason for my name suggestion - or what I like about the knife -

OK, 1st of all, "Old Dominion" is the nickname of the state of Virginia - the home of the fishiker the knife designer. 2nd, Dominion means mastery, control, sovereignty - all aspects of this rugged knife in the hands of a capable user. 3rd, it has not been used in the knife world as far as I can tell, and I do believe that "Dominion" aka, The Master is an appropriate name for this unique and fine knife ( although there is an "Old Dominion Forge" and a "Dominion Flatware Co."). 4th - I like the alliteration - The "JK Old Dominion" - sounds like a classic right off and I'm carrying my "Dominion" today sounds like you've got it all under control. :)

2nd - I like the size, the blade grind, the clipped tip and the lanyard hole - all these point to a good versatile working knife that will be most useful. I would have added a bit more choil and a thumb ramp (just a bit of serrations on the top edge) to allow for more aggressive action, but I otherwise like the slim look of it.

I like the name "Wilderness Supreme" because it looks like it will do many of the knife tasks when taken out in the wilderness. The blade shape looks vary sturdy.

I think you should name it Roscoe. The JK Handmade Knives Roscoe. Sounds good. My only critiques are purely based on personal preferences and would relate to the length of the blade vs handle (and that can be misleading in pictures). The design looks like a great, do everything blade. It's got enough "meat" to handle heavy use and still appears small enough to actually carry and have with you. You're always prepared if you've got your Roscoe

As a bird nut the first thing that came to mind is Virginia Rail.

Thanks for the chance!

Name Entry: The Seminole Shrew

Reason: This blade reminds me of 2 species native to VA.

The Seminole Bat

Ashen Masked Shrew

Both mammals are about 4.5" long [the blade length].

The bat, having deep mahogany and the shrew being a medium brown represent the color scheme of the burl [to me].

I am thinking Trail Pal. Looks handy. Sized right for hiking and trail tasks and could handle "heavier duty" jobs in a pinch.

Nice looking knife. Don't really have any issues with it. Clean lines, rounded handle looks comfy and that burl would be warm in the hand.

QUESTION -

Are we trying to name fishiker's particular knife or are we looking to name this JK model with any kind of scales.
Thought it was the latter but not sure now

We're looking to give the model a name, apologies for any confusion.

The Virginian...the knife with no name!

I like the clip vs a spear point, gives it more character IMO and the handle looks comfy.
It should serve you well till you pass it down.

That is a drop-point Kephart.

I would just call it beautiful.

best
