Name the top five custom makers that you want to own, BUT DON'T.

Well, it's a year later now. How many of you have checked any off your wish list?

Nope...:D My strategy has changed a bit too - I'm more opportunistic now.

Bailey Bradshaw--hope to remedy this soon.

Matt Diskin--also hope that this will soon be remedied.

Ed Cafferey--hope to get one.....

Don Hanson --just amazing work.

Richard Rogers --love mulutibladsed slipjoints

Well, I have done pretty well this year. I have managed to acquireexamples of Bailey's and Matt's work over that past year, and I do believe that a knife from the Sunfishman will arrive any time now.......

Don Fogg
Michael Connor
Harvey Dean
Don Hanson III,got three, want more, saw his Wicked Cutter on his site a while back,alas........
Rodrigo Sfreddo, got one, would love to pick up one of his 10" Damascus bladed Bowie's,mine is an 8"Damascus blade coffin handle.Love his subtlety, bold and subtle.

Got a Warenski. Not a big dagger, but still a Warenski. :D

Who to add in his place? Moran I guess, given the circumstances.

In no particular order

1. Burt Foster-Ordered- Excellent workmanship, great person
2. Bailey Bradshaw- Ordered- Fellow martial artist, gets "it", attention to detail
3. Harvey Dean-I like his work, a lot, and may make the jump
4. Jim Crowell- I like his work, too, I did own one, but did not love that particular model. He makes excellent knives, that balance well, and look "right".
5. Jim Rodebaugh-I like Jim, I like his work, and will probably pick up a piece or two from him, but every time I look at his table at the shows, I can't seem to find "THE" piece that I want.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

1. Got three Fosters, and two more on order
2. Have a Bradshaw katana, but want a fighter.
3. Still want a Dean, an ironwood handled El Diablo to be precise, but that may work out this year sometime.
4. Changed my Crowell wishes to an Ankrom Chute knife.
5. Still want a Rodebaugh, but there should be one for me sometime this year.

I WOULD like to have a Kressler subhilt, but I just don't think that will happen. Maybe a Velarde someday.

Tough to limit this to five as well. In no particular order:

1) Tim Hancock
2) Burt Foster
3) Terry Primos
4) Jim Crowell
5) Dan Farr

Bagged a couple of Fosters and a Farr (would love to have several more of each ;) ) I have a bowie on order with Terry. The Hancock seems unlikely - fabulous knives, but $$$.

I only have four at the moment, Mike Williams, Don Hanson, Tim Hancock*, and Steve Dunn.

*My brain is fading, how could I leave out Tim Hancock!

Larry Fuegen and Tom Ferry were made ineligible by recent acquisitions.

On the Bowie front I managed to snag a Mike Williams, a couple by Don Hanson lll, and a Tim Hancock.

So the target list at the moment is:

1. Steve Dunn
2. Burt Foster
3. Don Fogg
4. Ron Newton
5. ? ;)

5 B's....

Bill Buxton
Bruce Bump
Bill Burke
Bob Loveless (a Delaware Maid)
Bob Dozier

David

In non specific order:

Steve Dunn
Jerry Fisk
Ron Newton
Tim Hancock
Harvey Dean

I'm waiting for my Hanson and Fuegen Bowie, both are expected in 2007:D :D

Marcel

1. RJ Martin 2. Jens Anso 3. Kevin Wilkins 4.Scott Cook 5.Matt Cucchiara. I would LOVE to own knives from these incredible knife makers!! I have a long list of knife makers that I really want!!

if i'd been on this forum last year i would have said:

yoshindo yoshihara - beautiful swords, just amazing.
tim hancock - very unique, but classic style, very nice damascus.
mardi meshejian - wild, crazy stuff, frequently more art than knife. my girlfriend has one of his necklaces, but i've yet to find a piece for myself.
tom ferry - amazing damascus, nice flow to his work, spot on fit & finish.
bailey bradshaw - great attention to detail & nice clean work

i've gotten pieces from bailey & tom this past year, so i'll add burt foster and tim zowada in their places. there are of course many other makers who work impresses me, but that's the five that have been rattling around my brain lately.

in no particular order:

tim zowada
j. d. smith
kevin cashen
jimmy fikes
michael connor

al pendray would have been on the list a year ago, but as i got a nice wootz knife just recently i added michael connor.

Russ Andrews
Bailey Bradshaw (one incoming though)
Al Pendray
Rik Palm
Don Fogg

Got 2 Russ Andrews and one Bradshaw (with more ordered).

Pendray and Palm dropped off the list because my tastes have changed. I'll put Don Hanson and Mark Olson in their stead, though the Hanson pieces I'd want have always been just slightly beyond reach, and Olson is hard to come by and also just slightly beyond my means.

Fogg will probably always be out of reach money wise.

have you seen any of bill coffeys knives their slick

Which, translated with proper punctuation, capitals and spelling gives:
"Have you seen any of Bill Coffey's knives? They're slick."

Nice post, nothing like blowing your own horn in your first post, and not even having the pride of capitalising your own name while doing so. That sure makes me want to buy your knives.
