Native 4 CFP warranty report

We really do hold Spyderco to some very lofty standards. While aestetics are important, function is the strongest point. Everything manmade will have flaws whether you notice them or not. I think Spyderco provides a phenomenal balance of function, aestetics and price. These marks shouldn't cause a problem in the lifetime of the knife. However, it's great to see that Sal cares about his product enough to solve the mystery.
 
To the OP, I feel your pain.

So, take all your knives, send them all back, all of them, get your money back and buy a CNC machine and make the perfect knife.

Or, you could just, stop :foot:

This might be my second time posting in this sub-forum.....I have sent back knives to EVERY production shop there is.....and many custom makers.

High standards are good, and help to drive the manufacturer to higher levels of output and quality in the end...but you HAVE to communicate clearly and reasonably what is wrong, and give them a chance (or two;) ) to fix it. If EVERYTHING left the shop fubar'd...the manufacturer would go out of business fairly quickly, and since Spyderco has a long and storied history, we know this is not the case.

I have found Spyderco to be very responsive to addressing customer service issues, and that the upper levels of management "care" about their customers which is rare and refreshing, even in an industry as small as sporting cutlery.

The OP should follow up with Spyderco to get satisfaction, and we ALREADY know that Sal is checking on what caused the problem...it is a win-win, and should not require comparisons with custom knives or even another company....Spyderco made its' bones competing with itself to make each product better than the next(even if it is not attractive, lol:D).

Hum, my native doesn't even have a metal frame. Do you think they forgot to put it in? Just kidding....
 
However, my recent spyerdco, Tmag had a rough surface to the liner edges with little dents and bumps. Maybe the US plant needs to meet the standards of Spyderco's japanese partners.

Not again...........:rolleyes::yawn::eek:

By the way, Native4 made in Japan.
 
We've all seen the threads where a certain company who's knives sell for at least twice what the Native 4 does, regularly ship with scratches and blades that are not centered. I think due to the consistant quality of Spyderco, we sometimes expect too much from them.

In the end, we will find the problem. If it's fixable, we fix it.

Well, kidding a little bit, Sal....you knocked it out of the park WRT to blade shape, but the decision to add a finger choil has me scratching my head....the blade is really too small for it at 3 1/6"....you give up the "edge", pun intended....it looks a little strange as well.

We disagree a lot, but it doesn't stop me from buying your knives.:D
