Got back from my Kentucky trip this evening, and thought I'd share some photos of the area. Looking forward to going back. Kentucky has some beautiful country.
The cabin we lucked out on. I didn't know until I got there, that there were 57 steps to get to it, lol:
The view out the dining room window:
Same view outside:
We did the mile hike up to the natural bridge. First quarter mile was flat, but after that, it kept going up, and up, and up...longest 3/4 mile of my life, haha. Lotsa steps:
Was hoping to see a bear, but didn't:
14 on some moss:
Getting closer to the top:
Natural Bridge:
Looking up:
Steps to the top:
Fat man's squeeze. I damn near didn't fit:
Top of the bridge. They said it was 30 ft. wide:
View from the top:
Other direction:
17 and 14, from the top:
Some small lizard with a blue belly, I thought was pretty cool:
Mills Creek Lake overflow/spillway:
Nada Tunnel, on the Nada Tunnel Road, in the Daniel Boone National Forest/ Red River Gorge area. Single lane tunnel made through the mountian:
Blurry photo, but inside the tunnel:
Overlooking the Red River:
Small waterfall:
Overlooking Devil's Canyon:
Chimney Rock overlook. This was one beautiful place. Photos do it no justice at all. Your out on the end of a narrow ledge, giving you a nearly 360° view:
Half moon ridge:
The 17 overlooking the Red River valley, upon Chimney Rock:
Top of the "chimney":
You can see the Red River:
An few caves we spotted:
Back at the cabin, on BladeForums:
We had a blast here. We're hoping to return in the fall, when the weather is cooler, and the leaves are changing. Lots more area to explore. This was my first time in Kentucky. Very pretty area. Wouldn't mind living here.
