Natural Bridge State Park Trip (Photo Heavy)

Wow.....

Talk about a trip down memory lane.....Hottest, most humid packbacking trip I ever took was in that area....The guy that was supposed to know the area got us all turned around and we ended up " navigating" through aLaurel and Rhododendron patch and I discovered why those native to the southeast refer to them as "HELLS"..... Great trip though.....Beautiful......I used a Bill Forrest single point hammock there for the first time and the "hell" gave me great guidance when designing the Becker Patrol Pack......That area is one of the most beautiful on earth.....Great pix and looks like a great good time.....

Thanks for the trip down the lane of times past....

Ps......One of our company was going super light and had all his gear in a fishing vest......It was so freaking humid that during the ' hell' portion of the trip he was sweating so profusely that the hem at the bottom of the vest looked like a waterfall....I discovered that a high frame pack was designed for something other than 'bushwacking' ......I spent a bunch of my time falling backwards.....Lol......eb

That's the way it was the other day when we hiked too, hot and humid. About 85°, with 85% humidity.

I've never seen so many Rhododendron plants in my life. I had no idea they grew there like that. Cool info on the Becker Patrol Pack. I would like to get one, one of these days.

I've been out west to see the mountains 3 or 4 times in my life, and although it was pretty, I still liked this place better. Beautiful area, absolutely stunning really.

Great pix and looks like a great good time.....

Thanks, appreciated. We can't wait to go back. I hope we'll be able to save the money to go back in the fall. Would be cooler for hiking, not to mention the beauty of the leaves changing colors.

Fall in the Appalachians is one of the greatest of visual treats ........Next spring try to do a hike around mid April when the Wild flowers are peaking and the greens are coming on(tree greens)........Makes the heart sing......

All Best....

That's what my mother, who went with us, wants to do. She wants to see all the Rhododendrons blooming.
