Neck knife users, whats your favorite?

Get the cheapest one you can find. Neck knives are last ditch items and you don't have to have a high grade steel to do what it was designed to do. You can get good ones for ten bucks or so. But if you like quality, just tie a Spyderco Native around your neck! Spending a lot of money for a brand name and fine quality just doesn't make sense. I have a full tang version with rubber inlays, a sharp point and serrated blade. It's very secure and comes out with a good tug. It's fine. Who'd want more?

A Smith & Wesson or cheap Chinese no-name would be fine.

Extended outings in the woods, marine environment sports, law enforcement, alternative self defense tool- no matter the reason, if the user intends it to be a last ditch item, then it better be reliable when it' s set to go. Why would you stake your well being on a cheapo made POS??? When your life may depend on it? Makes no sense at all. Unless your choice is simply to have one to wear. And there' s nothing wrong with that BTW. To each their own.

I use to carry my Buck Hartsook around my neck. Other than that, I find other "neck knives" uncomfortable. I have a Becker 11 but I could never wear that around my neck.

If I was gonna bother with a neck knife, it would have to be something *very* light - like a ceramic. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any ceramic neck knives. Honestly, though, and I know I'll probably catch hell for this, but honestly I think neck knives are just an affectation and serve very little purpose in the real world except to show the world you have a knife. No offense intended to anyone here, but that's my opinion.

Ok, had to jump in here. You have an opinion. Granted. However I use neck knives all the time. I work in the Arctic and with multiple layers of clothing getting access to a knife is not always easy. Currently I am using a Mora Sloyd knife. It is light, easy to sharpen and always accessible. I can't count how many times in a day I reach for it. I wear it for 8 hrs of the day around camp or while doing fieldwork. I have never lost it, had it fall out of its sheath and if it gets hung up on something, I have a break-away lanyard on it. Do what works for you. Period. Try a neck knife and see what happens. Personally, I find wearing a fixed blade on my belt irritating as it often interferes with my packs hip belt. Therefore I use a neck knife. Problem solved. My .02

"neck knives" do not necessarily need to be worn around ones neck. I sometimes use a old camera strap to hand a knife from a shoulder. This tends to allow for a bit more concealment then one in the middle of your chest under a shirt or what-have-you.

For the most part through I just carry a decent folder in a pocket.

Neckers....yea...

It was just last week when I was in my favorite pizza joint in the wrong part of town. The slice of pepperoni/sausage/black olives was looking at me in a manner I found to be rather threatening. I scanned the table for my favorite weapon but it was missing. I then remembered my back up necker and whipped it out...problem solved.....burrrrrrrrp....

Here's two that see some neck time, the Bark River PSK and the Gossman PSK

I used to carry my RAT3 around my neck. Now it is better served on my drop leg holster. I carry my spyderco native in neck sheath sometimes. It is real handy when I am fishing.

I have a Fallkniven WM1 that gets carried everyday. My old fave was an AG Russell Hunter's Scalpel, man I miss that knife. For the guy who couldn't see the point of neck knives, there is hardly a better place to carry in the summer when you are wearing shorts and tank tops

They can be extremely useful, in my experience. My favorite is Becker Necker, mainly because of the sheath, and Mr. Becker's recommendation to carry the knife tip down. With it tip down, under the shirt (may be violating some laws in your area), it's a snap to reach under the neck-line and yank out the knife. The kydex comes out with it and slips off when cord reaches it's limit. My first necker was an Arclite by Camillus. It was tip-up carry and after the 2nd time it fell out, I stopped carrying it around the neck. IMO, tip-down is the safest and most convenient carry method. Unfortunately, most neckers out there don't give you that option. I slipped a length of inner tube around the sheath for stowing a few survival items. They fill a niche. It is good to have a small fixed blade; You can do things with most neck knives that you wouldn't (or shouldn't) do with a folder.

My EKI Lagriffe has been on my neck for years. It is a good blade for those times I don't have a blade on me. They are a good user knife for small chores also.

I wear a Benchmade 210TK around my neck every single day, rain or shine, and have been for the last 1-1/2 years. I don;t even know it's there unless I think to reach for it. It hangs under my shirt but atop my T-shirt. BM's S30V steel with G10 & carbon fiber scales. The kydex sheath has a tension adjustment screw:

Here's a handy little necker I've had for awhile. J. Neilson "Little Whisker":

I wear a TDI LDK neck knife under my uniform, but over my vest every day while at work.

Thank you guys for all the recommendations and very nice photos. I had no idea there were so many different models. Just deciding on one will be difficult.
Keep the photos coming...
